Castellana Grotte and Prisma Taranto reached an agreement meaning Castellana Grotte will take part in the A1 league next season. In spite of winning the regular season, the team from the Puglia region could not go up because of special regulations this season. It then went out of the playoffs at the semi-final stage and seemed doomed to play another season in the A2, which will not be the case thanks to this agreement with Taranto.
“I had declared a long time ago that Prisma Taranto would have pondered over the possibility to remain or not in the top division – said chairman Bongiovanni – The recent league campaigns had clearly hurt our enthusiasm. In the meantime, I have contributed to rectify the injustice that Castellana suffered in 2009-10”.
“I am happy and honoured to represent our Puglia region in the A1” added Castellana’s chairman Carpinelli.
