Serie A1 TIM – Playoffs

Game 4: domani Macerata ospita Trento, giovedì c’è Treviso – Cuneo

Macerata is back in the series against Trentino following its clear away win against the World Champion. On Wednesday, it will host Stoytchev’s team, which had not lost a semi-final game since 2006 (against Treviso) and had not lost a home league game this season. If Trento wins, it will be qualified for the V-Day of the 9th of May in Bologna, but Macerata will try to tie it and force a deciding game 5.

The Trento squad will fly to Lodz right after this game 4 as it will take part in the Champions League Final Four, which had been postponed because of the air crash that involved the Poland’s political leaders last 10th of April.

Game 4 between Treviso and Cuneo will be played on Thursday at 8.30pm.

Sebastian Swiderski (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We did well to get back in the series when we seemed doomed to be out. We’ll have to do as well to push the series to game 5, we’ll need as good a performance as the previous one, especially in terms of determination and concentration. We are reborn, but we shouldn’t take anything for granted. This game 4 will be even harder than the others. But with the help of our amazing fans, we can make it”.

Emanuele Birarelli (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We are 2-1 up in the series, we have to keep that in mind ahead of game 4. It would have been better to play another game at home to seal it. It will be a lot more difficult in the Fonte Scodella but we have our chances. Things can’t always go as you’d like to: I think the group learned the lesson from last year’s playoffs. There are no easy ways, you know you’ll have some obstacle along the way, you have to overcome them like Piacenza did last season, both in the semi-final and in the final. We are a strong team but one that can be beaten, so I don’t think we should change attitude now compared to the past. We just have to get back on court with the will to give our all, and be ready for the fight”.
