Padova had gone down in A2 at the end of the 2008-09 season, finishing bottom of the A1. But it didn’t stay there very long. With six wins in eight playoff games, Paolo Montagnani’s team conquered its place back in the elite by beating Santa Croce in the final. It started the series with a 1-0 lead thanks to its better regular season position and added 2 straight victories to make it a sweep.
However, Game 3 has been a lot harder than Game 2. Blengini’s team has led for most of the encounter with authority. Still, Padova managed to come on top in the tie-break to celebrate a great season at the end of which it joins Ravenna (directly promoted as winner of the regular season) in the A1.
