Trentino is the new Italian champion Under 20. In the final of the Junior League played on the tricolour court on the national day of the Italian Republic, Trento had the better of Modena 3-0. In the Final Eight, played for the fifth consecutive time in Sestola, Trento has not lost a single game on route to the title. The MVP was Trentino’s spiker Filippo Lanza.
In the game for third place, Treviso defeated the defending champs of Cuneo 3-1. A very positive third place for a team that had only qualified to the Final Eight through the last phase.
Rodolfo “Giobbe” Giovenzana (President Scuola di Pallavolo Anderlini Casa Modena): “Despite the average performance in the final, I’d say we’re extremely satisfied with the second place obtained by the group coached by Andrea Tomasini. It’s definitely a good result for Modena”.
Andrea Burattini (coach Itas Diatec Trentino): “We’re obviously thrilled because we had been chasing the title with this group for a long time and we got it in the last year. The boys have matured a lot as time passed this season and now many players are ready to have an impact in important leagues. I usually don’t like to talk about individuals, but this time I really want to praise our setter Gianpio Aprea, which handled things extremely well despite joining the team just a few days before going to Sestola”.
