On Saturday night, Ravenna went back from Cuneo empty handed. The guests did fight in the second set and can have regrets not to have sealed it after a 23-20 and 24-23 lead. The hosts had its main weapon in the blocking area with 19. Cuneo will now get ready for the Super Cup to be played on Tuesday November 1.

Flavio Gulinelli (coach Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We owed one to our fans after the poor defeat in the Champions League this week. We especially wanted to do well mentally and in the end, despite some trouble at the start and the perseverance of Ravenna in the second, we managed to win a very important game for all of us. We found our touch again at the net and on the serve, especially in the third set, and that’s a good omen for the Super Cup in Cagliari”.

Leandro Vissotto (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “Ravenna stepped up in the second set and we struggled, but then in the end we fought well as a team, coming back and winning it. When we started to work better at the net, things became easier for us. The third set was very special, I had never gone 8-0 up from the start like that. We were really sorry about Wednesday’s Champions League game and we wanted to bounce back. We have to be strong to overcome those moments”.

Paolo Badiali (sport director Cmc Ravenna): “We are satisfied with part of our performance: I think the first two sets were very positive, but then you know that against strong teams like Cuneo, if you don’t seal it when you have a chance you pay the price. That’s what happened for us, we should have taken the second set, we were ahead and even had a set ball, this proved devastating. We have seen the consequences in the third set”.
