Acqua Paradiso Monza Brianza – Sisley Belluno

Emanuele Zanini (coach Acqua Paradiso Monza Brianza): “It will be probably felt as a classic game because although it is now called Belluno, we are talking of the Sisley Treviso which is a team that has won everything for years. There has been some changes in recent years but it remains a top team, with great players such as Fei, Farina, Suxho and Horstink just to name a few. We’ll have to play better than against Verona, especially in terms of consistency. In the last game, we had very good spells, but others very poor as well. To beat a team like Belluno, you need consistency right from the start and you can’t afford to have lapses. I don’t think we are at our best yet but we have prepared well for this game. This game comes at the right time, we’ll also be able to check how much we’ve progressed”.

Frantisek Ogurcak (Sisley Belluno): “We’re in good shape right now, we’re feeling good. We were extremely satisfied in training following the derby win but now we are focused on the Monza game. I don’t think we were missing much in the first few games, we have definitely been unlucky, we did not have any problems and neither do we have any now. I think our reception improved in recent weeks, the comeback of Farina helped us too. It would be nice to win before the break. Monza is a good team, balanced, with strong players, and they have some newcomers who might not have reached their best yet because they need time to settle in. Monza has many new players, just like us. We’ll go there to win, given the recent outings I think we can make it. Monza’s main man? Gavotto: he’s been there for years and he’s a great spiker. Ours? I’d say Fei, the opposite team often focus on him, this trend might open some doors for Horstink or another one of my teammates”.

Copra Elior Piacenza – Marmi Lanza Verona

PAST ENCOUNTERS: 16 (11-5 Piacenza)

Paolo Maffi (General Manager Copra Elior Piacenza): “Initially when the fixture list came out, I thought the month break due to the World Cup was negative, now the whole team cannot wait for this break because this comes at the right time given the difficulty we’re going through. Hopefully, tomorrow’s game will be the last one with a re-organised line up. It will be tough against Verona because they have good players and great potential, they can beat anyone. Their setter is one of the best in Italy and they have another former Piacenza player in Popp, who will surely have an excellent game. As for us, we’ll face this game with the intention and determination to do as well as we can. We are definitely no favourite but we won’t go in there head downs, they will give their best, they have what it takes to play face to face with Verona”.

Bruno Bagnoli (coach Marmi Lanza Verona): “Taking more points on a tough away games like that against Piacenza would be extraordinary. We know we can have our chances right now and we’ll go there with confidence, believing we can do something, we’ll play aggressive. We know they have put together a team capable of giving a game to the top teams following a poor season. Still, because of injuries, and a tough fixture list, they don’t stand where they should in the table, they will be eager to get back up as quickly as possible”.

Lube Banca Marche Macerata – Casa Modena

PRECEDENTI: 56 (31-25 Modena)

Marko Podrascanin (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We really want to bounce back from the Vibo loss, do so against Modena would be ideal because this is a great team that is aiming high. This will be the last game before the break, fundamental to win it to stay close to the top of the table. We’ll need to be accurate from the serve and keep a high level of play and concentration during the whole game”.

Daniele Bagnoli (Casa Modena): “We’re coming off a defeat that hurt against Trento, these losses are difficult to take in and forget. But we’ve trained well during the week, this group is eager to do well and they train hard every day. Macerata is another candidate for all the trophies, I am curious to see how we’ll fair against them. They are a bit superior physically, we’ll have to contain their power on the serve and attack. The atmosphere will be electric there, but we have the quality to win it. We’ll obviously have to make less mistakes than last week, be more effective on the serve and overall play at a top level and with competitive spirit”.

Energy Resources San Giustino – Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo

PAST ENCOUNTERS: 19 (14-5 Cuneo)

Andrea Sartoretti (Sport director Energy Resources San Giustino): “Cuneo is without doubt a very tough opponent. But considering our last outings, we want to bounce back, we want at least to see an improvement in the level of play. We have to do everything we can and be happy with ourselves at the end of the game”.

Flavio Gulinelli (coach Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “We’re travelling to meet a team that is going through a bad patch and I think they’ll be keen to get back on track against a prestigious team like ours. This is why we’ll have to be extremely careful. Besides, we’re also coming off a defeat and have to bounce back. It’s important to do so immediately. Hopefully, this will be a good game, we’ll try to give it our best shot as we always do”.

Itas Diatec Trentino – CMC Ravenna

PAST ENCOUNTERS: None

Emanuele Birarelli (Itas Diatec Trentino): “This game comes at the end of an incredibly intense period. In the past thirty days we basically played every couple of days without ever having the time to rest or enjoy our victories. It’s been exhausting not only physically but also mentally, but we have always managed to find the resources to do well and do our job. We’ll try to do it again on Saturday, using all the energy we have left in our bodies. It will not be easy to focus again straight away but we have to do it because a victory would allow us to stay top at the end of this first phase, which would be a great result given all the complications we’ve faced in this period”.

Antonio Babini (coach CMC Ravenna): “These are definitely not the games we’re asked to win, but we’ll try to do well in Trento, fighting on every ball from start to finish against what is the best team in Italy and in the world right now”.

M. Roma Volley – Andreoli Latina

PAST ENCOUNTERS: 9 (7-2 Roma)

Dante Boninfante (M. Roma Volley): “There are many aspects to be considered, first of all the level of Latina, which is a team we can beat. On the other hand, I think that compared to the recent games played, this is the toughest test. Latina is doing well right now, it managed to snatch a point in Cuneo, so we’ll have to give hundred percent to get a good result”.

Daniele Tailli (Andreoli Latina): “This is a honour for me to be on court and have Andrea Giani on the other side of the net. This is somebody I particularly admire because he not only was a legend of Italian volleyball as a player but he’s also doing well as a coach. I am happy to be part of it because this will surely be a good game emotionally too”.

Fidia Padova – Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia

PAST ENCOUNTERS: 8 (7-1 Vibo Valentia)

Paolo Montagnani (coach Fidia Padova): “This game will tell us how much we want to stay in the Serie A1. I expect the players to play with maximum fighting spirit and aggressiveness to win the game. It does not matter whether you play well or bad here, what matters are the points to stay up. Vibo Valentia is an excellent team, they have very good players who are also coning off a superb win over Macerata. But we should not think about that, because we proved we could give a game to anyone”.

Gianlorenzo Blengini (coach Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “It’s undeniable that Padova is an excellent team which, like us, is gathering important points here and there against bigger name teams. They have a good mix of experienced players, some who used to play in Vibo and will be extremely motivated, and some young players with good technique and physical attributes who are trying to prove their worth in the most difficult league in the world. All these makes Padova a top quality opposition, which will want the win as much as we do”.
