The battle between the two newly promoted sides ended in a tie-break and it couldn’t have gone any different as five sets had been played in all three previous encounters between Castellana and Perugia. For the first time, Perugia came out on top as Castellana wasted an 8-3 lead in the clutch set.
“We got off to a good start but then a couple of mistakes were enough to make us lose confidence – explained coach Gulinelli – In the fourth we did well on the serve and counter attack which also helped us go 8-3 up in the fifth. But from then on we had more ups and downs and played with fear. We failed to take two match points but that was also credit to Perugia. Still we have to learn from those situations and improve”.
