MVP Andreas Fragkos

Thrilling and spectacular game in the Palakemon arena. Another tie-break win for Latina, while this was a first point for San Giustino who came back from 2-0 down to force the fifth set. In the end, led by a superb Fragkos, Latina just managed to snatch it.

Marco Fenoglio (coach Altotevere San Giustino): “We played a great game, we did a great job to come back from a 2-0 deficit. We hoped to clinch it in the tie-break but the most important thing was to get moving in the table and prove we could play with a team like Latina”.

Silvano Prandi (coach Andreoli Latina): “we have won but I am not satisfied with the performance. Once we took the first two sets, we should have handled things better but instead we faded. Fortunately, we managed to take those two points in the tie-break”.

CMC RAVENNA – MARMI LANZA VERONA 1-3 (25-22, 18-25, 15-25, 18-25)

CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi 5, Zhukouski 10, Psarras, Sirri 5, Tabanelli (L), Mazzotti (L), Radunovic 1, Zanuto 7, Moro 20, Bellei, Creus Larry 6. Dnp Pelekoudas. Coach. Babini.

Ravenna had a promising start to the game but had to concede its third defeat against a disciplined Verona team, led by the experienced pair Meoni-Gavotto. As for Ravenna, only Moro did fine, while Mengozzi had very few balls to attack. MVP Marco Meoni

Tsimafei Zhukouski (CMC Ravenna): “We got off to a good start because we put in practice what we had seen during the week, but then we fell behind and lost our confidence. When we were 3-4 points down, we had our heads down and the game seemed already lost, so we really have to improve that aspect”.

Bruno Bagnoli (coach Marmi Lanza Verona): “I am very happy with the team performance and among the individual Gavotto deserves a special mention. If we really want to look at little things that did not go that well, let’s just say we missed a couple of opportunities on the counter”.

BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE – SIR SAFETY PERUGIA 2-3 (29-27, 17-25, 16-25, 25-19, 16-18)

BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE: Menzel 23, Ricciardello (L), Paparoni, Falaschi, Dolfo (L), Ferreira 2, Sabbi 19, Ferreira, Yosifov 10, Cester 10, Casoli 15. Dnp Elia, Kindgard. Coach. Gulinelli.

SIR SAFETY PERUGIA: Alletti 11, Van Harskamp, Petric 23, Daldello 2, Giovi (L), Tomassetti, Schwarz 3, Tamburo 23, Vujevic 9, Edgar 1, Semenzato 6. Dnp Van Rekom, Pochini. Coach. Kovac.

Roller coaster game in which both squads would have deserved the win but in the end, Perugia came back from Castellana Grotte with the tie-break. In the fifth, Vujevic’s experience was key. Castellana did have two match points but couldn’t convert.

Cristian Casoli (BCC-NEP Castellana Grotte): “We have some ups and downs, we make mistakes and struggle to get back when behind. Shame really because we managed to tie it and had a chance to win it. We are a young team, we have to work in the gym to get better. We had a good attitude, especially from 2-1 down, but then we let ourselves down with our mistakes. We can and must improve”.

Slobodan Kovac (coach Sir Safety Perugia): “I’m very happy because this is our first victory in the A1. This was a good game, both teams made a few mistakes, it could have gone either way in the end. We have done well and were also a bit lucky in the fifth set to get back and seal it on a tough play”.
