Castellana Grotte signed Brazilian spiker Joao Paulo Tavares until the end of the playoffs. The club wanted to consolidate its roster as some of its athletes could potentially be called by their national teams. Tavares was knocked out of the Brazilian playoffs in recent days with Cimed Sky, beaten by Vivo Minas. The spiker won the World League 2005, 2009 and 2010 with Brazil as well as the World Championships in 2010.
