2012 Champions League

2012 could not have started any better for the Italian teams involved in the Champions League. Trentino, Cuneo and Macerata all qualified for the Playoffs 12 with a game in hand.

Three victories without any set conceded: Trentino dominated Partizan Belgrade with Stoytchev who could even rest Juantorena and Bari and made Kaziyski sit the whole third set. The Spaniards of Teruel are next on Wednesday.

Beaten in the first leg at home, Cuneo took revenge on Budejovice in the Czech Republic. As for Macerata, it silenced Fenerbahce Istanbul, who had won the first leg at the tie-break. A trip to Russia and Novosibirsk without pressure is next.

2012 CEV Cup

Mission accomplished for Monza, which swept Berlin in the quarter-final first leg in its PalaIper Arena. The German side is a good level team but could do very little against the Italians. If Monza wins the second leg, it will go through to the Challenge Round, in which there will be some teams coming from the Champions League.
