Round 15. Top of the league unchanged. Latina and Monza road winners.

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO – COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA 3-0 (25-18, 25-16, 25-19)

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 9, Birarelli 10, Della Lunga, Juantorena 14, Zygadlo, Vieira De Oliveira 3, Sokolov, Djuric 7, Colaci (L), Stokr 15, Bari (L). DNP Brinkman, Burgsthaler. Coach. Stoytchev.

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA: Marra (L), Sidibé, Papi 7, Zhekov, Nikolov 12, Massari, Kampa, Zlatanov 9, Holt 3, Tencati 3. DNP Kral, Marretta, Penchev. Coach. Monti.

Trentino registered the 150th official victory in its Pala Trento arena at the expense of Piacenza, an opponent which has been part of the history of the club. To be honest, this time round Piacenza did not give much resistance on Luca Monti’s debut on the bench.

Matey Kaziyski (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We managed to play with more consistency and tactically well compared to the first game played against Piacenza, which had ended 3-2. We did well in break situations but Piacenza did not do too bad either. I hope they’ll go back up the league table, they deserve too”.

Vladimir Nikolov (Copra Elior Piacenza): “We were aware of the difference of level there is between us and Trento, this is made obvious by the league table. We found it hard in every area of the game from the start and when Trento finds its rhythm, it’s difficult to get back in it”.

SISLEY BELLUNO – MARMI LANZA VERONA 1-3 (25-18, 19-25, 22-25, 23-25)

SISLEY BELLUNO: Abdelaziz, Fei 10, Horstink 9, Farina (L), Kohut 11, De Togni 11, Suxho 4, Antonov 3, Ogurcak 16. DNP Szabò, Dolfo, Curti, Sorato. Coach. Piazza.

MARMI LANZA VERONA: Popp 11, Kosmina 1, Ter Horst 1, Meoni 1, Smerilli (L), Patriarca 9, Zingel 11, Casarin, Kromm 19, Gasparini 17. DNP Calderan, Postiglioni. Coach. Bagnoli.

The northern derby in Belluno went to the guests, Verona. MVP: Gasparini.

Roberto Piazza (Coach Sisley Belluno): “We were coming off two excellent games, but today nothing really worked out after a good first set. We struggled in reception, we knew Verona had its main strength with the serve, but we still made a lot of mistakes and that influenced the rest of our game. We attacked poorly and even Fei, who usually leads us, did not find his rhythm. That can happen, but now we need to bounce back immediately, there are important games ahead with the Italian Cup quarter finals in Cuneo”.

Bruno Bagnoli (Coach Marmi Lanza Verona): “We played a horrible first set, we made an awful lot of mistakes both in attack and on the serve. We got back on our feet from the second set and we attacked hitting the ball hard from the serve. We found our rhythm and made it difficult for Belluno, a well organised team. This is another nice victory for us after the one against Cuneo, away from home against an excellent team”.

FIDIA PADOVA – ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA 1-3 (18-25, 22-25, 30-28, 16-25)

FIDIA PADOVA: Schwarz 3, Gonzalez 2, Tiberti, Koshikawa (L), Giannotti 2, Rosso 12, De Marchi 10, Simeonov 21, Semenzato 8, Suljagic 4. DNP Garghella, Cricca, Zingaro. Coach. Montagnani.

ACQUA PARADISO MONZA BRIANZA: Rossini (L), Conte 13, Nikic, Forni 3, Buti 14, Rooney 17, Kaszap, De Cecco 1, Gavotto 15, Shumov 3, Roumeliotis 2. DNP Tanfoglio, Molteni. Coach. Zanini.

Monza came away from Padova with a three-point victory despite an excellent performance from Padova’s spiker Simeonov.

Paolo Montagnani (Coach Fidia Padova): “We have not been effective today, especially in the fourth set when we could have got back in the game. Unfortunately, this was not possible because of inaccuracies, and a team like Monza always takes advantage. Now we’ll travel to Trento knowing that taking points there is almost impossible. We already have our mind set on the next home game against Verona”.

Emanuele Zanini (Coach Acqua Paradiso Monza Brianza): “We had prepared the game well, we knew that playing in Padova is never easy. We did a good job to take all three points, but we still have to sort out a few things, we need to get rid of our lapses”.

CASA MODENA – CMC RAVENNA 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-16)

CASA MODENA: Manià (L), Sala 9, Dennis 6, Carletti, Kooy 12, Bellei 1, Yosifov 7, Esko 7, Martino 4, Anderson 13. DNP Catellani, Casoli, Piscopo. Coach. Bagnoli.

CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi 2, Bendandi, Corvetta 3, Sirri 7, Tabanelli (L), Verhanneman 1, Quiroga 4, Moro 10, Brunner 7, Gruszka 3, Roberts. DNP Leonardi, Gallosti. Coach. Babini.

In front of 3200 fans, Modena swept Ravenna in the derby of the Emilia Romagna region. Thanks to this victory, Modena consolidates its fourth position in the league table. MVP: Mikko Esko.

Daniele Bagnoli (Coach Casa Modena): “We were coming off a difficult week, so I am happy with the win and the performance of the boys. As a team, we still have to improve, we used various starting six and for us a change in the line up means reorganising everything: we have a lot of work on, find a better understanding and balance in our game”.

Antonio Babini (Coach CMC Ravenna): “We tried our best, but Modena played better than us. They put their feet on the pedal at some moments of sets and we just couldn’t keep up. Still, my boys are giving their best, and they’ll try to get points whoever they play against”.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO – TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA 3-1 (17-25, 25-20, 26-24, 25-15) BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Mastrangelo 9, Henno (L), Ngapeth 13, Fortunato 5, Wijsmans 16, Vissotto Neves 3, Grbic 6, Caceres 14, Patriarca 1, Baranowicz. DNP Van Lankvelt, Rossi, Pieri. Coach. Gulinelli.

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA: Falasca 3, Mignolo (L), Serafini 2, Cernic 9, Diaz 15, Grassano, Banderò, Rak 13, Olli, Klapwijk 9, Barone 9, Fanuli (L). DNP Nikolov. Coach. Blengini.

Cuneo had the better of Vibo Valentia in spite of losing the first set. MVP: Hubert Henno, who registered 75% of positive reception.

Flavio Gulinelli (Coach Bre Banca Lannutti): “This was not a good game. Our opponents did especially well in the first set, with some good serving, very careful in reception and with an excellent Diaz, who was the one we feared the most. Then, we started to play well in block-dig situations and we started to put pressure on them, improving our attack”.

Matej Cernic (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “Far too little enthusiasm. We could have done better after the first set. In the second, we should have put more pressure on them but instead we let them impose their game, which you really cannot afford to do against such a strong team. This was our mistake, we could have done better if we had kept pushing like in the first set”.

ENERGY RESOURCES SAN GIUSTINO – ANDREOLI LATINA 2-3 (21-25, 25-22, 25-27, 25-15, 10-15) ENERGY RESOURCES SAN GIUSTINO: Creus Larry 10, Rauwerdink 15, Patak 20, Mc Kibbin 2, Cozzi 12, Finazzi, Tholse 1, Lo Bianco 1, Giovi (L), Sammelvuo, Urnaut 20. DNP Petkovic. Coach. De Giorgi.

ANDREOLI LATINA: Rivera Caamano 17, Hardy-dessources 6, Gitto 5, Sottile, Jarosz 17, De Pandis (L), Guemart, Troy 5, Diachkov 9, Cester 17, Fragkos 5. DNP Tailli, Galabinov. Coach. Prandi.

San Giustino bitterly had to share the points with Latina, which won it at the tie-break. MVP Rivera.

Paolo Cozzi (Energy Resources San Giustino): “We lost our way in the fifth set, a referee decision got us nervous too. We started off the game very tense, then we loosened up and played very well. But we also tend to lose our confidence very easily”.

Enrico Cester (Andreoli Latina): “I think the difference was the fighting spirit with which we played in the fifth set, In the fourth set, we seemed to be left without any energy but we found the necessary resources in the most important moment”.
