The event will kick off in Doha, Qatar, on Saturday 13 as three-times defending champion Trentino will try to retain its title. Four of the five continents (Oceania the one missing) will be represented with 8 teams taking part divided into two groups. The top two of the first phase will qualify for the semi-finals. In case of a tie in the groups, the factors considered will be as follows in that order: number of victories, set quotient, direct match-ups.
