European Cups

Champions and Cev Cup Wednesday and Thursday

2013 Champions League

Three undisputed victories for the Italians in the first Champions League round, Cuneo, Macerata and Trentino are determined to keep it going.

Wijmans and co will make their home debut against the French of Sete, beaten in round 1 by the Polish side of Rzeszow. On Thursday November 1, Macerata will try to overcome Ljubljana, which took a point against the Germans of Unterhaching in the first round. Trentino will be in France to take on Tours.

2013 CEV Cup

On Thursday, Latina will play its first ever home game in Europe, playing host to the Romanian team of CSKA Sofia. So far so good for Latina, second in the league and 3-0 winners in the 16th of final first leg. But Prandi’s team will need focus and determination to win this second leg and avoid the Golden set.

Serie A2

Round 5 on Thursday

Tonazzo Padova – Sidigas Atripalda. The 3-0 win over Matera gave a boost to Padova, which will host Atripalda, tie-break winners over Ortona in the last round. Only one point separate the two sides in the table.

Globo Banca Popolare del Frusinate Sora – Conad Reggio Emilia. Severely beaten in Città di Castello, Ricci’s team wants to bounce back immediately at home against Reggio Emilia, which celebrated a come-back win over Brolo.

Caffè Aiello Corigliano – Gherardi SVI Città di Castello. Rested in the last round, Corigliano entertains the league leaders of Città di Castello, which has yet to lose a set this season, registering wins over Matera, Padova and Sora.

Vero Volley Monza – Coserplast Matera. Monza is ready for its home debut following away games and a round rested. Fumagalli still managed to take 7 points out of three road games with three victories. Matera will try to interrupt this winning streak and add to the three points earned so far.

Elettrosud Brolo – B-Chem Golden Plast Potenza Picena. Brolo and Potenza have yet to register a victory this season. Brolo went close twice, against Monza in the opening game and last week against Reggio Emilia, twice beaten at the tie-break. Potenza is still without a point.

Sieco Service Ortona – Pallavolo Molfetta. Interesting match-up between two teams from the top part of the table. Ortona’s winning run was stopped last week by Atripalda (2-3), while Molfetta will look for consistency following their win over Loreto.
