BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE – ALTOTEVERE SAN GIUSTINO 0-3 (20-25, 19-25, 19-25)

BCC-NEP CASTELLANA GROTTE: Menzel 1, Elia 1, Paparoni (L), Falaschi, Dolfo 5, Ferreira 1, Sabbi 9, Ferreira 7, Yosifov 3, Cester 7, Casoli 2, Krumins 1. DNP Ricciardello. Coach. Gulinelli

ALTOTEVERE SAN GIUSTINO: Fiore 12, Van Den Dries 15, Guttmann, Mc Kibbin 4, Coali, Cesarini (L), Bohme 8, Torre, De Togni 7, Maric 10. DNP Gradi, Mattioli, Lo Bianco. Coach. Fenoglio.

Castellana was too poor to be true and logically lost against San Giustino, who was disciplined and determined. The guests found their inspiration in McKibbin and MVP Maric.

Flavio Gulinelli (Coach BCC-NEP): “I really don’t want to think that’s what we’re worth. No matter the changes made on court, the end product remained the same. We have to forget quickly this game but have clear in mind the work there is to do. And we have to improve fast because we’re travelling to Cuneo on Sunday”.

Goran Maric (Altotevere San Giustino): “It’s an important victory for the playoffs. We haven’t played well in the first half of season and Castellana Grotte has definitely played better than tonight. We have been well-organised and made few errors, it went well, that’s what we had to do, we are satisfied”.

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO – CMC RAVENNA 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-18)

ITAS DIATEC TRENTINO: Kaziyski 9, Sintini, Birarelli 3, Juantorena 5, Vieira De Oliveira 1, Valsecchi 1, Lanza 4, Djuric 11, Colaci (L), Stokr 15, Bari (L), Burgsthaler 3. DNP Uchikov. Coach. Stoytchev.

CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi 8, Owens 7, Zhukouski 1, Psarras, Sirri, Tabanelli (L), Zanuto 7, Moro 10, Bellei, Pelekoudas 4. DNP Radunovic. Coach. Fresa.

No surprise in the game between leaders and bottom team. The world champions made it 21 wins in a row as they tallied 8 blocks, 4 from Djuric who was lethal with 75% in attack.

Giacomo Sintini (Itas Diatec Trentino): “We wanted a good victory to finish this first half of season on a high and it went just like we wanted, in three sets and with a convincing performance. We are therefore satisfied, and the win came as well with the help of the back-up players”.

Bruno Zanuto (CMC Ravenna): “We knew we were facing a very tough game and we did very little to make things easier for us. We started off tense, we got in the game a bit in the third but that was not enough. It’s definitely not against teams like Trento that we have to take points, our season will resume next Saturday with the first return game”.

SIR SAFETY PERUGIA – BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-22)

SIR SAFETY PERUGIA: Alletti 7, Van Harskamp, Petric 11, Daldello 2, Giovi (L), Tamburo 14, Vujevic 10, Edgar, Semenzato 6. DNP Van Rekom, Tomassetti, Schwarz, Pochini. Coach. Kovac.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Mastrangelo, Antonov 1, Marchisio, De Pandis (L), Galliani 3, Wijsmans 11, Kohut 8, Grbic 1, Della Lunga 5, Sokolov 17, Abdelaziz, Rossi 1. Coach. Piazza.

Perugia got a breakthrough against Cuneo, Sirci’s boys were determined and played excellent volleyball as Goran Vujevic’s come-back was key. Without Ngapeth, Cuneo struggled in reception.

Andrea Giovi (Sir Safety Perugia): “Great game. Unlike last Sunday in Vibo, we served very well, while they have not been as sharp as usual. Our quality on the break did the rest and that’s how we got all three points”.

Roberto Piazza (coach Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “Tonight, nothing worked. I looked for answers from the bench but without success. I think we are not demanding enough with ourselves and me, as coach, I have to understand where I am getting it wrong. Perugia is a well-organised team and they play very good volley, but it’s definitely been an under par performance from our part”.

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA – MARMI LANZA VERONA 3-0 (25-21, 25-18, 26-24)

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA: Marra (L), Papi 3, Fei 16, Simon 8, Zlatanov 13, Holt 8, Tencati, De Cecco 3. DNP Latelli, Corvetta, Ogurcak, Maruotti, Vettori. Coach. Monti.

MARMI LANZA VERONA: Kosmina, Ter Horst 13, Gotsev 4, Meoni, Bolla 1, Pesaresi (L), Gavotto 7, Peacock 1, Viafara 4, Fedrizzi 12. DNP Rak, Centomo, De Marchi. Coach. Bagnoli.

It’s been one of those perfect nights for Piacenza, not only winning in straight sets but also taking advantage of the other results to lock third place and home court advantage in the Italian cup quarter-finals on December 26. MVP: De Cecco.

Luca Monti (coach Copra Elior Piacenza): “Unfortunately in those games we are led to play at the rhythm of our opponents. We’ll need more fighting spirit and impose our rhythm in the future. In the third set we got asleep, we let them develop their game while we should dictate the play. De Cecco was perfect again tonight, he keeps improving and is guiding the team the way he likes to”.

Bruno Bagnoli (coach Marmi Lanza Verona): “We managed to keep up with them a  little bit in the first and third set. Unfortunately, our serve did not work tonight. When the serve went in we did start to get a few break points. But Piacenza was solid and De Cecco was unpredictable. Overall, we did not play that bad a game. Credit to Piacenza who deserved to win”.

CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA – TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA 3-1 (25-23, 25-22, 24-26, 25-22)

CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Zaytsev 19, Parodi 12, Stankovic 9, Monopoli, Henno (L), Travica 3, Starovic 11, Kooy 1, Podrascanin 9. DNP Lampariello, Pajenk, Randazzo. Coach. Giuliani.

TONNO CALLIPO VIBO VALENTIA: Coscione 3, Cortellazzi, Kaliberda 8, Farina (L), Forni 3, Rocamora 1, Badawy 6, Buti 7, Klapwijk 18, Barone 3, Urnaut 16. DNP Montesanti. Coach. Blengini.

Macerata secured second place with a four-set victory over Vibo Valentia. The Italian Champions had not taken three points in the last four games (three defeats and a tie-break win). Macerata will face Latina in the cup. Vibo slipped to fourth place but will be home too against Cuneo. MVP:Parodi.

Alberto Giuliani (coach Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We played two excellent sets, Starovic looked back to his best, but instead he faded but that’s normal, he only had a few training sessions behind him. Except for the fourth set in which we made mistakes, especially on the serve, we did ok. Overall, I am satisfied, I think this was a great performance against a team that proved it deserved to stand where it is, just like we proved we deserved our second place”.

Gianlorenzo Blengini (coach Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “Disappointed with the first set in which we could have done better, and start the game differently. In the other sets we lost, we just made too many mistakes on the serve, but against a team like Macerata you have to hit it a little harder to make it more difficult for them”.

CASA MODENA – ANDREOLI LATINA 3-1 (25-22, 20-25, 26-24, 25-18)

CASA MODENA: Manià (L), Catellani, Sala 12, Deroo 14, Quesque 18, Celitans 25, Casadei, Molteni, Baranowicz 6, Piscopo 4. DNP Pinelli, Bossi. Coach. Lorenzetti.

ANDREOLI LATINA: Rauwerdink 10, Rossini (L), Sottile 2, Patriarca 12, Verhees 12, Troy 18, Noda Blanco 7, Cisolla 2, Fragkos 2, Guemart. DNP Gitto, Prandi. Coach. Prandi.

At the end of an intense and exciting game, Modena had the better of Latina. Tight for the first two sets, there was a kind of playoff atmosphere from the third set on. Modena’s positive run continues with 4 wins out of the last five, while Latina showed again all its quality, being well-organised on court. MVP: spiker Guillaume Quesque.

Marco Molteni (Casa Modena): “I am moved, this was indeed my last game, this was a privilege for me to spend 21 beautiful years in volleyball. I have taken a decision for my life, during the week we will have a press conference to explain my decision”.

Silvano Prandi (coach Andreoli Latina): “We made a few mistakes too many and Modena punished us. Credit to them, we want to put this behind us and look ahead. The cup in Macerata? A tough road game, but there aren’t any easy ones”.
