BRE LANNUTTI CUNEO – CALZEDONIA VERONA 3-0 (25-18, 25-15, 25-20)

BRE LANNUTTI CUNEO: Rauwerdink, Antonov 10, Gonzalez, De Pandis (L), Casadei 17, Kohut 9, Alletti, De Togni 8, Coscione 2, Maruotti 7. DNP Marchisio, Rouzier. Coach. Piazza.

CALZEDONIA VERONA: Zingel 3, Blasi, Pesaresi (L), Ter Horst 2, Gasparini 12, White 4, Boninfante 3, Centomo (L), Bellei, Anzani 5, Gonzalez 2. DNP Coali. Coach. Giani.

It’s been almost a month since the last league game in the PalaBreBanca and Cuneo made it a good one with a sweep on the in-form team of Verona.

MVP with 17 points: Alberto Casadei.

Alberto Casadei (Bre Lannutti Cuneo): “This has been a good game, a victory obtained as a team, as a group. We’ve gone through a tough patch and we have worked real hard for this game. Winning at home, with the support of our fans is an even greater satisfaction. I am really happy”.

Andrea Giani (coach Calzedonia Verona): “The kind of game I had in mind materialized. We had had a good run, but today we did not play the game well in our minds. Cuneo did not lack motivation to win it and they have prepared well for it. Besides the motivation, the tactical and technical aspects were important: Cuneo has always been ahead, right from the start”.

DIATEC TRENTINO – CMC RAVENNA 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-19)

DIATEC TRENTINO: Birarelli 10, Solé 9, Ferreira, Suxho 1, De Paola, Lanza 8, Sokolov 16, Colaci (L), Fedrizzi 12, Burgsthaler. DNP Sintini, Thei, Szabo. Coach. Serniotti.

CMC RAVENNA: Mengozzi 5, Kauliakamoa Jr, Cricca 2, Toniutti, Tillie 6, Koumentakis 1, Patriarca 3, Klapwijk 15, Cester 4, Bari (L), Cebulj 5. DNP Jeliazkov, Scarpi. Coach. Bonitta.

After consecutive victories in Latina and Maaseik, Trentino extended its winning streak with the first home win of 2014 against Ravenna. Just like in the first meeting between the two teams, Serniotti’s men took control of proceedings from the start and never let go. The hosts were exceptional in attack (64%) well inspired by Suxho.

MVP: Fedrizzi.

Michele Fedrizzi (Diatec Trentino): “It was important to take the three points and do so in three sets to save some energy before Wednesday’s Champions League encounter. I am glad I made the most of the opportunity given. I’ve had more court time in recent games and I think that helped me to have a positive impact on the encounter”.

Andrea Bari (CMC Ravenna): “We did not play that bad but Trento did well to work on our weaknesses. It was a great feeling for me to come back to the PalaTrento arena because what I left in this club and to this people goes beyond the victories. I was really moved by the welcome I got from the people before and after the game. I want to thank everyone, despite the defeat I’ll go home happy”.

CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA – ANDREOLI LATINA 3-1 (22-25, 25-21, 25-22, 25-20) – CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Henno (L), Parodi 7, Zaytsev 18, Patriarca 9, Kovar, Martino 4, Monopoli, Giombini 1, Kurek 18, Baranowicz 3, Podrascanin 8. Coach. Giuliani.

ANDREOLI LATINA: De Rocco 9, Rossini (L), Gitto 6, Sottile 1, Verhees 7, Tailli, Paris, Starovic 20, Fragkos 14. DNP Michalovic, Skrimov, Noda Blanco. Coach. Santilli.

No surprise in the final outcome: Macerata defeated Latina and consolidated its first place. But taking their 12th win in 13 games has not been easy for the leaders, who were without Stankovic (flu) and Paparoni (back).

MVP: Patriarca (9 pts, 4 blocks).

Alberto Giuliani (Coach Cucine Lube Banca Marche): “A little loss of concentration can happen after Thursday’s Champions League game. But if you get into a game like we did today, things become complicated against anyone in Italy, and all the more so against a Latina team that played really well tonight. I was forced to send Patriarca on but I am glad I did because he was excellent. Martino needs to play because he’s not at his best yet, tonight he played two sets and did very well in the first. Besides, It seems like Parodi is making strides forwards. Winning today without playing brilliantly is a good sign, but we’ll have to play at a higher level in Piacenza and be more solid, especially on the counter”.

Roberto Santilli (Coach Andreoli Latina): “Our attitude going into this encounter was excellent, we’ve been solid in the first set, but then we faded and let Macerata take charge. Unfortunately, our performances generate the applause and congratulations from our opponents but no points”.

TONNO CALLIPO CALABRIA VIBO VALENTIA – COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA 1-3 (25-23, 19-25, 22-25, 20-25) – TONNO CALLIPO CALABRIA VIBO VALENTIA: Sardanelli, Trinidad De Haro, Plot 1, Steuerwald, Randazzo 6, Farina (L), Forni 6, Villena 2, Crer 10, Gavotto 21, Ogurcak 10. DNP Presta. Coach. Blengini.

COPRA ELIOR PIACENZA: Marra (L), Le Roux, Papi 5, Fei 8, Kaliberda 9, Zlatanov 16, Tencati 11, Vettori 21, De Cecco 5. DNP Partenio, Smerilli, Simon, Husaj. Coach. Monti.

Piacenza had a hard time in Vibo but eventually won what has been a tight encounter. The hosts played aggressive and with determination, which allowed them to stay close for most of the game.

Mauro Gavotto (Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia): “We’re disappointed because we could at least have gathered a point. We’ve always been in the game except for the second set against a top team like Piacenza. If we always play like that, we can give a game to anyone. We’ll have to maintain that same level against Ravenna”.

Luca Vettori (Copra Elior Piacenza): “It’s been a good game, well played by both squads. We were coming off a special week with our European commitment with Macerata, we ran the risk of underestimating the task ahead. We missed Simon on the serve as he was on the bench, but in the end, the boys had a good reaction after the first set. Now we’ll go for it against Macerata”.

CASA MODENA – SIR SAFETY PERUGIA 1-3 (16-25, 25-16, 23-25, 23-25)

CASA MODENA: Manià (L), Sala 8, Sket 1, Deroo 22, Quesque 11, Kampa, Bartman 24, Beretta 6, Mossa De Rezende 2, Hendriks. DNP Donadio, Bossi, Kovacevic. Coach. Lorenzetti.

SIR SAFETY PERUGIA: Buti 12, Paolucci 2, Petric 16, Giovi (L), Barone, Della Lunga, Mitic, Vujevic 7, Atanasijevic 18, Fanuli (L), Semenzato 10. DNP Della Corte, Cupkovic. Coach. Kovac.

Perugia proved to be impossible to overcome once again for Modena: that’s now four wins in a row in the last two league seasons for Perugia. It’s been an intense and tight affair but the guests’ serve was sharper while the hosts found it hard in reception. The end of the third set was key: some referee decisions were contested and Lorenzetti saw red.

MVP: Atanasijevic (Sir Safety Perugia)

Angelo Lorenzetti (Coach Casa Modena): “We knew how strong is Perugia, they played at a level above ours. They put us under pressure by working on our weaknesses from start to finish. But I am extremely disappointed, such attitude is not acceptable. The referees were influenced. Somehow we had got ourselves back in the game. I have kept it shut for the first two sets, while our opponents were all contesting, and right from the first point. So what’s the point of respecting a certain ethic and morals”.

Slobodan Kovac (Coach Sir Safety Perugia): “I am thrilled with this victory. Physically we’re in good shape and we played some excellent volleyball. Coming to win in this gym against a team like Modena is really exciting”.
