Kovar was named MVP as he scored 13 with 62% in attack (2 blocks, 1 ace).

Alberto Giuliani (Coach Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “Modena is a top quality team and today we managed to sweep them with our supporters able to recreate the atmosphere of the Fontescoldella arena here in Osimo. The boys did well in the block-dig department from the start, and it got better and better as the game wore on in the counter attack, which I think was the key to the game”.

Angelo Lorenzetti (Coach Casa Modena): “We played a good game, I am totally satisfied with what the boys have done on court. But obviously to beat Macerata a good game is not enough. We’ll therefore have to be extraordinary in the next games”.

Piacenza got off to a good start in these playoffs semi-finals. In a sold out PalaBanca arena, they came out winners in a strange and tricky encounters against Perugia. The latter lost the first two sets by a big margin but fought back and proved they would be no easy client to get rid of. Atanasijevic and Petric led the way for a formidable 25-12 third set win. The hosts, however, regained their lost composure and took revenge.

MVP: Vettori (19 points, 2 aces)

Luca Vettori (Copra Elior Piacenza): “We had the game in our hands in the first two sets, after which we lost our way  and coach Monti was forced to change most of the line-up. It paid off, we managed to rest and when we got back we regained control to seal it in four sets. Perugia is a tough opposition, it will be a long series. Hopefully, we’ll be physically ready for the next one in Perugia”.

Andrea Giovi (Sir Safety Perugia): “I think that the serve and reception were the keys to the game. Atanasijevic had an impressive run of serves which allowed us to trouble Piacenza. Then, in the fourth, Vettori turned things around for them again”.
