Michele Grassano is one of the new faces of the Alessano team that was promoted in the Serie A2 for the first time in its history. The 28-year-old born in San Severo won the A1 league title and Super Cup in 2009 with Piacenza, as well as the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games in Pescara that same year with the Italian national team. Last season he was at Chiusi, in the B2 division, helping the team earn promotion.

“After five years between the A1 and A2, I took the important decision to go down in order to dedicate more time to myself – said Grassano – This is how I played in the B2 division, a totally different championship, but not less difficult. My shoulder problem was the only negative note of the season but the resulting surgery allowed me to get rid of a problem I had been dragging for years. I was glad to receive the call from Alessano, I will do my very best to help bring the name of the club as high as possible”.
