World Championships 2018 in Italy
Here is the reaction of the President of the Italian Volleyball League, Albino Massaccesi, regarding the news that Italy will host the World Championships for men in 2018 together with Bulgaria.
“First of all I want to express all my satisfaction regarding the news that Italy will organise the World Championships 2018. This is a splendid success for our sport. I also think this rewards how important our league, the SuperLega, has become. I can say without false modesty this is the greatest and most exciting league in the world.
The World Championships 2018 is an event that will have to be exploited as well as possible to have more space dedicated to volleyball in the media, to increase the visibility of our sport using the excitement that will inevitably be generated ahead of an event of such magnitude and international importance.
I would also recommend that the Italian Federation involve the Italian Volleyball League Serie A and its clubs in the organisation of the event. This collaboration is indeed the normal consequence of the presence in our league of the athletes that will be part of the Italian national team in the World Championships 2018”.
