Its declared mission is to launch the career of young prospects but it can be nice too to bring them back home once they have become real stars. And that’s what Potenza did by signing Andrea Ippolito. Born in 1985, the spiker from Frascati (near Roma) has done tremendously well at Cantù in the past two years. The most prolific winger last season, Andrea played at Potenza from 2005 to 2007 when he was just over 20.

“It’s really exciting to be back in Potenza, the club that believed in me and launched my career – said Ippolito – The only way I would have said ‘no’ would have been a starting role in the SuperLega. Potenza is a great club with one of the best coaches around. The atmosphere is great here, and they put together teams with a nice mix of young and experienced players who play with enthusiasm. It didn’t take me long to make my choice because I know the people here in the club and I have total faith in them”.
