Verona announced it reached an agreement with Alexandre Ferreira to bring the Portuguese athlete to verona. Born in 1991, 203cm tall, Ferreira is currently playing in the World League as captain of the Portuguese national team.

“Ferreira is extremely motivated to play for Verona – said sport director Gian Andrea Marchesi – In spite of his young age, he has a lot of experience, and he will put all that experience gathered in Portugal, Italy and Turkey to Verona’s disposal. He will give us a great contribution in terms of physical attributes and talent. He’s an excellent spiker testimony his performances in the World League with Portugal”. Ferreira has already played two seasons in Italy, in 2012-13 with Castellana Grotte and the following with Trento, where he won the Italian Super Cup. In Italy he scored a total of 469 points in 51 games (52 aces, 61 blocks). In the past two years, he played for Ziraat Ankara, Turkey, finishing 8th of the last Champions League.
