Serie A2 Playoffs UnipolSai
Final Game 5: promotion at stake

One whole season in one game, the clutch of all clutch time, the “Super Bowl” of the Serie A2. On Sunday 15 at 6pm, Vibo Valentia and Sora will have one last battle. The winner will be in the SuperLega next season.

Vibo Valentia will play the most important game of the year on its home floor. The regular season winners are packed with champions and experienced players but even them, in front of such a huge goal, can vacillate.  Incredibly, almost ridiculously solid and unstoppable in the first two encounters, the giants of Mastrangelo did not play with the right attitude in game 3 and were beaten in Game 4 in spite of playing with maximum determination. They had Marcello Forni out at the last minute and he is doubtful for Game 5 too. In the previous match, Vibo was 1-0 up, just two sets from going up, but then they faded in attack and lost their timing at the net.

Sora has been waiting for this for years. Without its head coach, who went to Japan with Italy’s women national team after Game 2, the group got back from the dead and are now in with a chance to reach their goal. Assistant coach Maurizio Colucci proved he had a great feeling with the players, while the team has already won in Vibo twice this season. Spirit is high, especially with spiker Mattia Rosso back at his very best. He was the top scorer of the last game with 27 points and he is the playoffs’ top scorer with 169 total points in 31 sets, in front of Vibo’s outside hitter Peter Michalovic (163 in 35 sets) who was the regular season top scorer.
