After eliminating Cucine Lube Civitanova in an emotional semifinal, Sir Sicoma Colussi Perugia wasn’t able to repeat the performance, being defeated by defending champs Zenit Kazan in the final, who won their third Champions League in a row.

Italian teams finished these great two days of volleyball in Roma in 2° and 3° place, after the 3-1 win of Cucine Lube civitanova in 3°/4° Place final versus  Berlin Recycling Volleys. It was a great display of power for coach Alekno’s team, 11 aces, 4 from cuban Leon, with 63% in attack, keeping Perugia far from all the chances to get into the game. Ivan Zaytsev stepped up, trying to do something important in attack, scoring 14 points, the best scorer for Perugia, but it wasn’t enough. In first set it was Butko grerat protagonist for Zenit, blocking and attacking, driving Kazan to an easy win 25-15 in first.  Second set was more balanced, with Perugia in front 16-15 with the ace of De Cecco, with the ace of Atanasijevic on 20-19 and with the attack of Zaytsev on 22-21, but Zenit stepped up with Mikhailov, taking home the set 25-23. In third it was Leon the go to guy for Kazan, with four aces in a row which put Zenit in front 12-6, virtually closing the game. Three more aces for Anderson gave the 18-9 lead to Zenit, who finished the set 25-14, for the final win for the russians.
Ita was a great volleyball show at PalaLottomatica in Roma in last two days, 22.000 total spectators in two days, and a show in a show with Perugia’s fans, always beside the team, in good and bad luck, a great enthusiasm from them, until the end. Also the fans of Lube were great in both the days, and in general all the people who attended to this great expression of volleyball.
Compliments and props to Sir Safety Perugia, the club who organised and hosted this event, a success in all the aspects.
