After the unfortunate year of relegation, when Alberto Benedicenti was used as second Libero behind the more experienced Fusco, the management decided to confirm the young Piedmontese by betting on him to attempt a prompt return to the second national series.

A bet that can well be defined as a swept winner given that, once the championship is over and all the sums have been drawn, Alberto Benedicenti finished in second place out of twenty in a special ranking drawn up to evaluate the perfect receptions in the two Serie A3 groups. In 26 games played, 107 sets overall, the fearless Libero obtained 241 perfect receptions, contributing not a little to the deadly attacks of the Ortonese offensive department.

Alberto Benedicendi was born in 2001 in the fascinating Turin, the city where he began his career in the world of volleyball.

His journey began in the youth sector of GSAD Arti e Mestieri Torino and at the age of sixteen he had the opportunity to play in Serie C with the senior team. However, his extraordinary skills are quickly recognized by the talent scouts of Club Italia Roma and, in the 2018/2019 season, Benedicendi moves directly to Serie A2 with the team of young Italian talents.

During 2018, Alberto Benedicendi adds to his curriculum a bronze medal won at the Under 18 European Championship. Among the other achievements of the free youngster, there is a second place achieved with Piedmont at the 2016 Trophy of the Regions.

For the 2019/2020 season, Sir Safety Perugia inserts him in its roster for the Serie B championship, to then promote him to the first team that competes in the Superlega. Then follows the experience with the Sa.Ma. Portomaggiore in Serie A3, before starting his adventure in Ortona.

«I am very happy for what will be my third year in Ortona. This means that there is mutual respect and consequently all the best conditions for working well. A2 will undoubtedly be a more difficult championship but at the same time it will be an extraordinary one for me of both technical and personal growth and improvement. To express ourselves at our best, we will need to create an excellent understanding both on and off the pitch. I take advantage of this opportunity to greet the Dragons and all the supporters of Ortona».
