Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza, Berlin Recycling Volleys, Halkbank Ankara and Sport Lisboa e Benfica: here is Pool C of the Cev Volley Champions League 2024, the first in history for the red and white team.
The draw of the other day at the European Broadcasting Center in Luxembourg packed the five groups of the Main Phase of the CEV Volleyball Champions League 2024. The debut of the red and whites is set at the PalabancaSport on a date between 21 and 23 November with the Turks of Halkbank Ankara in which Nimir and Ngapeth play among others. The matches that will be played at PalabancaSport are included in the All Inclusive subscription.
Andrea Anastasi (Gas Sales Bluenergy Volley Piacenza coach): “It’s a pretty tough group, Halkbank is a top-level team, very strong with Nimir and Ngapeth but not only that, there’s a really strong American setter and many important Turkish players who play for the national team. There will be suffering, I’m happy that we start our journey at home. As for Berlin, I have faced them several times in the Champions League, they are a very competitive team that next season will be led by a new coach, they have lost central Brehme who is going to play in Modena but have replaced him with a very strong Estonian, they are a well-established team that must be respected. Halkbank and Berlin are the toughest formations, it’s a complex group, in the Champions League you have to start well to immediately find good energy and good inspirations so in November we will have to give a lot of importance to the Champions League perhaps to the detriment of the championship, we have to stay there and think about that”.
Five groups, each of which includes six total matches divided between first leg and return matches: starting on November 21st, ending on January 17th 2024. The first classified in each group will take part in the Quarter Finals, while the five second and the best third they will play the Play Offs with the round-trip formula with the first leg at the home of the worst classified.
