He had arrived in Trento at the end of summer 2017, in his early twenties, for the first season of his career away from Slovenia; he will return there in October, grown up from all points of view: technically, physically and humanly, thanks to the great wealth of experience accumulated playing first the Italian SuperLega and then the Polish PlusLiga.
The twenty-seven-year-old Jan Kozamernik wears the Trentino Volley shirt again to complete the middle blocker department of the Gialloblù squad which will also be able to count on the new Italian Champions Martin Berger, Wout D’Heer and Marko Podrascanin. His return to the Club that had actually launched him internationally guarantees quality in position 3, with particular regard for the fundamentals of blocking and serving that have always distinguished him. Suffice it to say that in the four seasons in which he competed with the Italian championship, Jan made a total of 201 winning blocks and 84 aces, playing a total of 126 games. He had played the first 44 with Trento, in the 2017/18 vintage in which, although initially starting as an alternative to the starting duo Zingel-Eder, he was able to find more and more space, highlighting a good part of his potential. Subsequently, he gained further experience in Milan (with which he won a Challenge Cup, together with Sbertoli) and in Rzeszów, as well as in the national team where he made his debut very young already in 2014, conquering three silver medals at the European Championships over time, and where still represents a strong point. On Friday 7 July in Pasay City (Philippines) he will face the Italian national team for a VNL 2023 match, finding future teammates such as Lavia, Michieletto and Sbertoli on the other side of the net.
“Despite having been away from Trento in the last five seasons, I have continued to follow this club with affection and attention: I have always hoped to be able to return – admitted Jan Kozamernik – . I am therefore very happy to be a Trentino Volley player again; compared to the previous experience, I certainly feel that I have grown in every aspect and I am ready to do my part to continue to keep this team high. I will have the great advantage of knowing the environment well and having already built up an excellent understanding with Sbertoli over the years in Milan. Blocking and serving have always been my most effective fundamentals, but I will also be able to have my say in attack.”
