The story continues. Marco Sommavilla has been the doctor of Belluno Volley since 2009. And it will still be: even in the next and by now imminent year under the net. A vintage characterized by many changes. On staff. And not only. «Compared to the past – says the “doc” – we will follow the sphere linked to food in more detail. In this sense, we rely on a professional of the caliber of Serena Di Santo, who has also collaborated with Imoco. Each player will have his own personalized diet, so that he can keep in good shape. The athlete’s well-being also depends on what he eats».

Sommavilla is ready to get to know the many new faces within the collective: «I’m loaded with spring. A large part of the roster has changed and, consequently, there will be work on cohesion and amalgamation. In this sense, I too intend to offer my contribution. I will follow the boys from various points of view: also on a psychological and motivational level. The team spirit must be recreated. A spirit that we have always had here in Belluno. And it is necessary to achieve great results. In short, I will not bring only and exclusively my medical skills to the gym ».

New championship, new instruments: «We have equipped ourselves with an ultrasound machine. In this way, we will be able to autonomously evaluate any muscle injuries ». But a doctor doesn’t just treat injuries: «There are so many pathologies we have to deal with. More or less important: even a simple and banal cold can limit the performance of a volleyball player. And this is an aspect that should not be overlooked ». Sommavilla spreads confidence: «I have excellent sensations. The workforce is of a high standard and the grafts are of value. But let me say a word about a boy I watched growing up: Gonzalo Martinez. He is an exceptional jumper and I am pleased that he has changed his role». The “doc” is already in a championship climate.
