A few days from the rally that will sanction the resumption of work, Sieco Impavida Ortona welcomes a new young talent to its Serie A2 Male roster. We are talking about Matteo Di Giulio, a spiker of 180 centimeters in height, born in Chieti on December 12, 2006.

Taken directly from the SIECO youth sector, Matteo’s story is hand-in-hand with Paglieta, a team from his city. It is precisely with Virtus Paglieta that Matteo gets to know volleyball, at the tender age of seven. Again thanks to Virtus, Di Giulio made his debut very young, in the 2019/2020 season, in a category championship, and it is a National Serie B.

In the 2020/2021 season Matteo wears the Impavida Jersey for the first time, playing in the Under 15 of Sieco. A prolific experience for everyone, given that that year SIECO won the regional championship and reached tenth place in the national one. Strengthened by this positive experience, Matteo returns to his origins to play a new Serie B championship, season 2021/2022 with Virtus Paglieta.

But the paths of the Paglieto spiker and the Impavida do not remain separate and in the 2022/2023 season they cross again with Di Giulio still engaged with the Ortonese youth sector and with Serie C.

And even if Matteo Di Giulio’s experience in national championships is not lacking in his career, competing in a Serie A2 championship is a decidedly important goal for a young athlete. The occasion arrives in anticipation of the 2023/2024 sports season when the Ortonese management decides to focus on almost entirely local “second lines”. A proposal, that of being part of the roster of the first team, indispensable for Matteo: «I am very happy to be part of this group, for me it is an honor to represent the colors of the Impavida Ortona in Serie A2. It will certainly be a year of great growth for me because I will have great champions by my side from whom I will be able to learn a lot».
