Good test match for Vero Volley Monza, engaged within the friendly walls of the Arena against Farmitalia Catania. Massimo Eccheli’s team finished tied at 2-2 (27-25, 21-25, 23-25, 25-21), showing great intensity throughout the match. The Monza team continues to make progress in terms of condition and play, in view of the first match of the 2023-2024 season, starting on Sunday 22 October against Civitanova as an opponent, at the Eurosuole Forum.

The first men’s team of the Consortium immediately started strong in the opening set, putting the Sicilians under control and fighting in every game situation, until the deserved 27-25. In the two central sets, however, a precise serve and a good block-defense correlation allow the guests to counter-overtake. In the last game, however, Eccheli’s boys brought out all their remaining determination, fighting for every ball and above all showing excellent growth in the fundamental skills of blocking. Monza thus wins the last game with a deserved 2-2. Top scorer Beretta who knocked down 16 balls with 6 blocks, followed closely by Lawani and Di Martino, with 11 and 10 points scored respectively.

The team will now have two days of rest to recharge their batteries, in view of the resumption of training scheduled for Tuesday 10 October, with a double session of weights and technical training.

Thomas Beretta (Centrale Vero Volley Monza): “Today was a good test. Against Brescia we were perhaps a little exhausted, we wanted to make up for it. We had a period with reduced ranks, but when you play against a team in the same category you always want to do well. The request from the staff was to approach the test as if it were a championship match, given that we are now at the end. We have to take advantage of all these test matches, because not having the possibility of playing six against six during the week this is gold for us. After this long period of preparation, we are starting to see something good.”
