Seventy-nine years ago, at the end of the Second World War, the gates of Auschwitz were demolished by the 60th Dept. of the Russian Army.

Auschwitz is the symbol of the many concentration camps scattered around Europe, where the ideals were not right but extremely cruel and imperfect.

That day a very sad chapter in the history of humanity closed. A chapter that cost millions of human lives that became numbers against which to hurl one’s hatred and idiocy. Bodies burned, dignity erased, absurd conditions, persecution of all kinds of people not considered such.

January 27 is the symbol of the end of persecution of the Jewish people. It is the time not to be erased and to be remembered, it is the story to be told to the generations that grow up and to those to come.

We do not know precisely how many Jews were unjustly killed by other men who unjustifiably hated them.

On Remembrance Day our reminder to reflect on history, learn from the atrocities of the past and commit to a better world.

Silence always makes noise
