The Scudetto and in general the Sir Susa Vim Perugia season has many cover faces. Many faces symbolizing a record-breaking year, many characters to celebrate.
But the trophies placed on the showcase also tell the beautiful story of Tim Held and Alessandro Toscani. Two boys making their debut in the Super League who, in the space of a season, went from the A2 series to the top of Italy and the world, two athletes who, after a long apprenticeship in the cadets, were able to become an integral part of a group full of established champions, two athletes who they can now shout all their joy.
Listen to Tim Held.
“It was an incredible season from the first to the last moment with an incredible working group and with fantastic and helpful guys who immediately made me feel part of the group. It was really cool. If I have to choose between the four trophies won I say the scudetto because it came at the end of a journey that was tough, but also beautiful, a title that I believe encompasses the entire season of this team and this club. What is it like to be part of a spiker department with Leon, Plotnytskyi and Semeniuk? Coming to Perugia I had taken into account that I could grow from a personal point of view, I will never be grateful enough for the help that these guys gave me and which made me make a leap in quality. I will always carry their advice with me and I will try to make good use of it. The PalaBarton? When it’s full you can’t describe it… I can say it’s cool when five thousand people support you.”
The same emotion is also present in the words of Alessandro Toscani.
“The scudetto has a wonderful taste. I experienced unique emotions even if I believe that it will take some time to metabolise everything because this season has been fantastic, spectacular and I am truly happy. I was part of a group that was special inside, I noticed it when I arrived in August, someone was still missing, but there was immediately a crazy feeling, we had a really good time together. On a personal level it was a super season, working with these players was a sensational experience. I was lucky enough to be side by side with Max (Colaci, ed.), a fantastic person. It was also wonderful on a human level, I had a great time, he helped me a lot and gave me a lot of advice to improve from a technical and also mental point of view. And what an emotion the PalaBarton is, full it is incredible, in few arenas, even perhaps only here, you can breathe this atmosphere”.
