After a midweek round full of competitive spirit and twists, the elite of Italian volleyball is about to move to the Unipol Arena in Casalecchio di Reno (BO). The Final Four Del Monte® Coppa Italia SuperLega is scheduled for the weekend. Tomorrow, Saturday 27 January, the two-day calendar features the semi-finals in a single match with live broadcast on Rai Sport. The teams returning from the quarter-finals are in contention. At 4.00 pm Itas Trentino challenges Mint Vero Volley Monza, while at 6.30 pm Sir Susa Vim Perugia finds itself in the net with Allianz Milano. The final act is scheduled for 3.45pm on Sunday 28 January live on Rai 2 (the start of the race will only be broadcast on RaiPlay).
The event is organized by the Serie A Volleyball League in collaboration with the Fipav Emilia-Romagna Regional Committee and the Fipav Bologna Territorial Committee, with the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region. Therefore, three challenges are coming to be experienced in one go thanks also to the new 15-second time limit for serving. A rule to speed up the game and limit the downtime between one action and another as much as possible.
On Saturday, at 4.00 pm, the Italian champions Itas Trentino and Mint Vero Volley Monza, debuting at the Final Four of the Italian Cup, seek praise in face-to-face n. 30. The Brianza team has only beaten the Dolomites on three occasions, always at home and always in the championship, the last time being last season. In cup competitions, however, the gialloblù have never given the Lombard team any discount, eliminating them in the quarter-finals in three editions of the Italian Cup and defeating them 3-1 in the Super Cup Final played in 2021 at the Eurosuole Forum. Last season the “black beast” Trento ousted the Vero Volley consortium from the Scudetto race in the Quarter Final series. Having reached F4 thanks to the 3-0 in the Adige derby against Verona, Fabio Soli’s men are chasing their fourth Italian Cup, while Massimo Eccheli’s team wants to write history after eliminating Civitanova in the previous round. In the championship Trento continues to lead the standings and give clear signs of superiority as in the case of the 3-0 inflicted on Milan. Opposite mood for the Monza team, who won only one match in the second round, coming off the comeback suffered in the tie break at home against Verona and having to evaluate the conditions of spiker Ran Takahashi. Despite the excellent psychophysical moment of the Trentino players, the Brianza group knows they can play their cards. The only ex on the field is Gianluca Galassi, while coach Fabio Soli coached Monza for three years. Canadian Eric Loeppky seeks point no. 1000 since its arrival in Italy.
