Roland Gergye has officially been removed from the Cuneo Volley roster.
The Hungarian spiker, already registered and about to arrive in Cuneo for the start of training camp, had received an offer from a Qatari club.
After a thorough analysis of the situation, President Gabriele Costamagna and Sporting Director Paolo Brugiafreddo gave the player and the interested club until August 31st to decide what to do and ultimately complete the transfer.
So it was: Al-Rayyan S.C. completed the transfer within the deadline, and the transfer process has now begun.
“We confirm that Gergye has been removed from our roster, having accepted a contract offer from a club in an Arab country; this decision clearly goes against our wishes, as we believe he played a very important role in our team.” – underlined Sporting Director Paolo Brugiafreddo, reiterating that – at the same time, despite the fact that there was a signed contract that theoretically had to be respected, we were equally aware that, despite having great faith in him, bringing in an athlete who was not sufficiently motivated would probably give rise to uncomfortable situations that could have been detrimental to the management of the group and the progress of the season.
