Born in Dobrich, Bulgaria, the 2006-born spiker Nikolay Ivanov will play diagonally to Andrea Bacco in Campi Reali Cantù for the 2025/2026 season. For him it will be the first experience abroad, having played so far only in the team of his city, which plays in the Bulgarian Serie A. Gifted with a good elevation, he is already “under special observation” of the Senior National Team led on the bench by former Italian coach Gianlorenzo Blengini, as well as being a key player in that B. Before starting the preparation under the orders of Coach Alessio Zingoni, Nikolay will play both the qualifications for next year’s European Under 22 Championships, scheduled from 11 to 13 July in Samokov, Bulgaria, and the World Under 21 Championship, which will be held from 18 to 31 August in Jiangmen, China.

“Nikolay is a player who immediately caught my attention – confesses Coach Alessio Zingoni –: despite being very young, on a technical level he is very mature. He makes few unforced errors during the sets, and manages to stay well on the court, in an intuitive way. He is a good jumper, on a technical level he manages to apply himself well in all the fundamentals, and for this he impressed me a lot. I am sure that he will be able to get along well with our way of working and with our objectives. On a human level he is a calm boy with excellent motivation, and this convinced us even more to bring him to Cantù. We are very happy to have Nikolay with us: he can give a contribution of technical maturity despite his young age”.
