Terni Volley Academy did not falter in their debut match in the Credem Banca Serie A3 championship. In their opening match against Plus Volleyball Sabaudia, the home team had to save two match points before overcoming the Dragons, who were up a set throughout the match. After coming close to a feat in the fifth set with a spirited comeback, Giombini’s boys fell 19-17 in the tiebreak, confirming their potential to play a key role in the championship and pose problems for more experienced rosters. TVA’s inexperience and the cunning of Sabaudia’s more experienced players tipped the final scoreline in favor of the home team, but coach Leondino Giombini got important responses from all his players, especially Javier Martinez, who played a superb game with 27 points.

Giombini “Great character”

“We’re disappointed with the result,” commented Leondino Giombini, “but there are many positives and many areas for improvement. If this is our starting point, we have significant room for improvement, and this really gives me a lot of confidence and gives the boys a lot of strength to stay in the gym, because we work hard in the gym.
