Excitement and surprising results were evident on the first day of the Group Stage of the 33rd edition of the Del Monte® Junior League, the “Trofeo Massimo Serenelli,” played this year in the province of Bologna, between Ozzano dell’Emilia and San Lazzaro di Savena. Itas Trentino leads Group A, defeating Romeo Sorrento 3-1 in the morning and repeating their feat against Allianz Milano in the afternoon. Vero Volley Monza, who began their campaign with a resounding 3-0 victory over Allianz, struggled against Sorrento in the afternoon, only prevailing in a tie-break. The two teams thus advance to the Semifinals, where they await the announcement of their opponents. Tomorrow, they will also face off in the final match of the Group Stage for the top spot in the group. Allianz Milano and Romeo Sorrento will cross paths to determine the complete Group A standings.
In Group B, the following is the situation: Valsa Group Modena currently leads with 5 points, thanks to victories against Sir Susa Scai Perugia (3-2) and Mo.Re Reggio Emilia (3-0). Consar Ravenna is in second place, having won the tie-break against Reggio Emilia and Perugia. This team can secure qualification for the semifinals with a win against Modena (which has already qualified and is just waiting to see where it stands). Sir Susa Scai Perugia, with 2 points, is third, followed by Mo.Re Reggio Emilia, which has earned one point from its first two matches.
The Group Stage will conclude tomorrow morning, Monday, June 1st. The afternoon will see the Finals for 5th and 7th Place, as well as the Semi-Finals, which will determine the two teams that will qualify for the Final on Tuesday, June 2nd, at 3:30 PM.
