After Latina’s bad loss last sunday, Cucine Lube Civitanova stepped up and won a very important home game versus Diatec Trentino, in a remake of 2017 Unipolsai Superleague Playoff Finals. Coach Giampaolo Medei started with Taylor Sander in place of Jiri Kovar, and with Davide Candellaro and Enrico Cester in the middle, with captain Dragan Stankovic on the bench. On the other side of the net coach angelo Lorenzetti put in the starting six Teppan on the opposite side in place of Luca Vettori, playing still with canadian Nicholas Hoag in place of Uros Kovacevic, still in trouble with the muscular injury. First set was balanced, until the decisive break on 22-19 thanks to an ace of Enrico Cester, who drove Lube to the 25-22 win in first set. In second set Lorenzetti put on the floor Vettori in place of Teppan (20% in attack), and with Vettori Trento trailed until 23-23. going to the extras, in the end is Civitanova to grab the set, gaining the break on 30-28. Could be an easy one for Lube, but Trento fought back again, with a great effort by Captain Filippo Lanza (20 points in the end with 62% in attack), grabbing the lead in the crunch time of third on 23-22, when Medei called a time out. Once again at the extras, Lube won set and match 29-27. .

We won versus a good team as Trento, we fed up with this win, we gained enthusiasm after this win, but we still have alot of things to improve, especially continuity, we lost something in third set, in example. Fifth win in a row for Sir Safety Conad Perugia in Unipolsai Superleague, another clear 3-0 at noisy loudy PalaEvangelisti, this time versus Gi Group Monza, despite a not perfect night in attack, only 48%, but thanks to an outstanding performance dowon the net (12 blocks) and in the serve (12 aces). The balance in the game was until the tie at 20 in first set, then a big turn in the serve for Ivan Zaytsev closed 25-21 the set. In second and third there were only one team on the court, Sir Safety Conad Perugia dominated both the partials 25-16 and 25-11. In third set coach Lorenzo Bernardi put on the court players from the bench, Cesarini, Della Lunga, Shaw, Siirila, Berger and Andric. Another big match for Calzedonia Verona, this time versus Azimut Modena, after the elimination suffered by the same team in Del Monte Italian Cup quarterfinals. It was a good start for Nikola Grbic’s team, in front 9-7, keeping the lead until the end and winning the first set 25-23. In second set Modena had a good start, stepping up and winning the set 25-18 tying the game. Good start for Verona in the third, thanks to a couple of aces by Stern and Spirito, then Modena fought back grabbing the tie and taking the lead, winning 25-21 the third set. In fourth a bad start of Verona left Grbic’s team behind, without being able to come back, remaining all the set down, with Modena who won set and match 25-21. Mvp of the game was Earvin Ngapeth, with a great offensive effort, 27 points for the frenchman. The best scorer for Verona was Stephen Maar with 14 points.

It was a good Kioene on the home turf, grabbing three important points for the standings versus Biosì Indexa Sora. Once again Gabriele Nelli was great in the fundamental of serve, driving Padova to a great win, despite the effort of Rosso and Petkovic for Sora. In first set Padova took the first important lead on 8-5, keeping the lead on 14-10, but Sora fought back until the lead on 18-17. Padova grabbed the tie at 21, taking the break with a bunch of great serves of Nelli, winning the set 25-22. In second Nelli was once again great in the serve, putting on the floor a break until 8-1. Once again a devastating serve of Nelli put Padova in front 19-9, with Kioene winner of the set 25-13. In third Biosì Indexa tried to fight back with Petkovic, who put on the group the ball of the 8-6 lead, but Padova fought back with Randazzo and once again Nelli, winning in the end set and match 25-23.
