Roma – Despite the football derby, 2000 people turn up for the match between M. Roma Volley and Sisley Treviso. And they cannot say they regret it. It took 5 sets to have a winner, with Treviso overtaking Roma.

No news with regards to the starting six with Serniotti and Dal Zotto able to line up their best men.

The first set is balanced until the home team manage a few extra points and wins 25-23.

Fast start for Sisley in the second set, it is 8-2 at the first TTO. Roma tries to recover  with Serniotti replacing Miljkovic with Hernandez and Molteni with Marshall but the gap gets too big and it ends 19-25.

The third set is singed by Treviso too. Hubner and Cisolla take control of their team leading it to victory for 22-25 after a straightforward set.

M. Roma Volley does not agree though. They take over the game with a wild Marshall-Hernandez duo despite Horstink replacing Cisolla. Roma flyes to victory 25-22 sending everyone to tie break.

At tie break Treviso goes straight to 1-8. Miljkovic is back in and it shows with Roma recovering. 4-6 is signed by Semenzato. But Sisley has not taken off and wins 11-15.

Roberto Serniotti (M. Roma Volley): “We have been good at going to the 4th set despite a difficult evening. We have struggled in attack due to Sisley’s service, bu we could have received better on some easier serves. Now we have a brea, some of the players are leaving, some are staying. We will try to take advantage of this time at our best”.

Renan Dal Zotto (Sisley Treviso): “We have served really well. forcing them to play a lot of slow balls. This is an important victory after a very negative start of our championship”.

MVP: Stefan Hubner (Sisley Treviso)

Padova – Padova and Modena are meeting for the 61st time in their history. Bruno Bagnoli on Antonveneta’s bench, last year Modena’s coach, now in the Andrea Giani’s hands.

The starting six are well up for it from the first set with Padova going on 8-7 thanks to Perazzolo once again on top form.

It carries on head to head with Modena’s coach asking for a TO on 20-19 and going crazy when Garghella saves a ball that would have been out leading the way to a 21-25.

The second set carries on from the first one with Dennis scoring an ace on 1-4 forcing Bagnoli to ask for a TO. De Togni signs the recovery on 8-9 but Dennis is on top form tonight and his ace on 9-12 shuts PalaNet up.

On 14-16 Garghella is lat on a ball forcing coach Bagnoli to call on his men again.

Antonveneta Padova plays on and off, alternating great agonistic moments to what seems to be tiredness.

Dennis closes the set 23-25.

In the third set Antonveneta Padova is more aggressive with Esko’s class showing again. Platenik  ragefully strikes the 8-6 but the tension is still high at PalaNet.

The same spiker carries on with his ride (18-16) but Modena is calm and cynical. The 22-22 signed by Heller is off a manual but Padova does not give up and a raging Platenik closes on 25-23.

The start of the 4th set is on the edge. Bontje carries Padova to 13-11. When Modena seems to have taken control of the game, Padova surprises everyone thanks to a concentrated Diaz and a blocking starting to work. It’s 25-20.

Tie break is emotional. The teams, both exausted, continue their fight head to head until 11-15 with Garcia Ricardo MVP and last set striker.

Bruno Bagnoli (Antonveneta Padova): “shame about the first and second set, we played below our abilities. We have received badly too and this has probably costed a lot. With Modena, 2 sets are difficult to recover. The break is penalising us because we are in good shape and our supporters are with us at the moment. Anyway, this is an important point towards safety”.

Andrea Giani (Cimone Modena): “Padova surprised me even though I knew it would not have been easy playing here. We still have somme difficulties with our coral game and I thought our opponents would have taken advantage of it. I expect a lot from my boys and I am sure we are on the right track”.

MVP: Garcia Ricardo (Cimone Modena)
