Bassano made it five consecutive wins and went top of the league table. The young army of Gheorghe Cretu make the fan dream with this perfect start to the new season: 5 games, 5 wins and only 3 sets conceded. Nassano are now joint leader, which had never happened before. Catania’s revisited team of Hugo Conte could not stop Bassano who remains undefeated. They took advantage of Santa Croce’s defeat to catch them up and they still have a game in hand on the Tuscany team and Bologna, the other leader.
It’s not been easy by any means, as it was without outside hitter Tamburo out with an ankle injury. His substitute Burbello had just been sold to Caglari and the newcomer Savio was not ready yet. Coach Cretu was forced to make a revolution in the line up. In the end, the Slovak Ogurcak filled the position and scored a massive 29 points.
