Treviso wins and is mathematically through to the playoffs

Under pressure, Treviso played its best volleyball. It was a do-or-die game and against Cuneo, second and still with a chance to finish top, but Treviso didn’t falter playing with pride from the first minute. After two sets dominated by the hosts, thanks to a good serve and a great job from the Brazilian setter, Cuneo had a chance to win the third but Treviso cancelled it and won the game on a Nikolov mistake.

Thanks to this win, Trveiso has mathematically secured a playoff spot, which means the last place will be contested by Vibo Valentia and Verona this Sunday.

Alessandro Fei (Sisley Treviso): “We didn’t want to be the first Treviso players not to take part in the playoffs. We could have been very nervous, but we played a good game. We can do that, we can play good volleyball, but we had too many ups and downs. Now that we are in the playoffs, we have to play freely like tonight, without thinking of anything”. 

Vladimir Nikolov (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “It was not a case of having our minds somewhere else. We faced a team that had a brilliant performance in attack tonight. Then, our serve did not work well and our game depend a lot on it. Let’s regain our energy now before flying to Athens, where we will play the Cev Cup Final Four, a very important target for us. We physically are in good shape, but we will have to deal with the 15.000 fans that will support the home side in our semi final”.
