In the second semi final of the “Volley in Salento” trophy, Taranto swept Macerata to fly in the final, where it will face Latina, who beat Vibo Valentia 3-1 in the other semi final. Macerata was without a few of its stars and Taranto took full advantage with the usual Rivaldo standing out with 15 points and 54% in attack. The middleblockers Cozzi and Elia had a good game too.
“We beat an opponent who did not have its full squad (Vermiglio, Cisolla, Martino and Podrascanin are all in Turkey for the European Championships) – said chairman Bongiovanni – but it’s still nice to win against such an important team. And I’ll tell you one thing, this Taranto team has great potential. We can still improve much more”.
