Serie A1 TIM, round 27
Treviso wins the big game over Piacenza.
Marshall’s season over. Modena and Macerata level with Piacenza. At the bottom, Latina stays up. Minute silence for Lucio Bellone.

The televised game between in Treviso began with a minute silence in honour of the ex-referee and the CAN secretary, Lucio Bellone, who passed away.

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA – PRISMA TARANTO 3-0 (25-23, 25-20, 25-23) –

LUBE BANCA MARCHE MACERATA: Cisolla 9, Paparoni 7, Vermiglio 2, Bartoletti, Smerilli (L), Stankovic 3, Martino, Corsano (L), Omrcen 19, Swiderski 7, Podrascanin 10. DNP Raymaekers, Monopoli. Coach. De Giorgi.

PRISMA TARANTO: De Oliveira 17, Ricciardello (L), Montagna, Cozzi 4, Suxho 2, Westphal 2, Elia 4, Rodrigo Pinto 15, Quartarone, Bartman 3. DNP Candellaro, Moretti. Coach. Serniotti.

Macerata took all three points but lost Mirko Corsano again, who went out because of his recurring knee problems. The scoreboard showed 3-0 but it was all but easy. Credit to a daring and tenacious Taranto team. Swiderski was MVP, while Omrcen was the top scorer with 19 points.

Ferdinando De Giorgi (Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We are satisfied with the result, these are three important points for us. We have to keep playing this way and improve our game, by working hard in the gym as we do every day. It was nice to see Swiderski on court again, he is very happy, as well as the medical staff who worked hard to get him back to full fitness. We are obviously very happy ourselves, we’ll have an extra weapon in the playoffs, this will be extremely important”.

Roberto Serniotti (Prisma Taranto): “We played a good game, maybe the best under my orders. Shame we got such result, which happened because of a determined situation which had already occurred various times this season. When we get to the clutch time, we lose confidence and let it slip away. Shame as well I got this yellow card at 23 each in the first set: I remained stunned, I had only told the ref that the ball had been touched”.

ANDREOLI LATINA – ESSE-TI CARILO LORETO 3-1 (25-19, 25-19, 25-27, 25-18) –

ANDREOLI LATINA: Van Den Dries 2, Giovi (L), Saitta 3, Nikic 16, Fabroni, Geric 7, Vujevic 26, Spairani 14, Giombini 13. DNP Gitto, Cortina, Snippe. Coach. Medei.

ESSE-TI CARILO LORETO: De Angelo Freitas 9, Marra (L), Diachkov 10, Dolfo 2, Van Dijk 13, Tereshin, Visentin 4, Belcecchi, Paoli 1, Cester 2, Shumov 10. DNP Marzola. Coach. Moretti.

Latina has secured its place in the A1 next season thanks to a four-set win over Loreto.

Milos Nikic (Andreoli Latina): “At the end of the day, we played very well. We made it difficult for ourselves only in the third, but we bounced back with an excellent fourth set. It was an important game, we were focused, we wanted the three points. Thanks to our amazing fans, it was easier”.

Luca Moretti (Esse-ti Carilo Loreto): “We met Latina at its best. We studied all of their games and I have never seen them at this level. A team like this is impossible to beat for us. We played a good game, the players gave their all, but there was nothing we could do. We hit the serve hard but Giovi and Nikic were excellent from start to finish in reception. Now, we have to catch up Forli, we can still stay up, a lot will depend on our foreigners”.

SISLEY TREVISO – COPRATLANTIDE PIACENZA 3-0 (25-21, 28-26, 25-23) –

SISLEY TREVISO: Carletti, Fei 21, Horstink 15, Papi, Farina (L), Kohut 1, De Togni 3, Bontje 5, Maruotti 6, Garcia 5. DNP Sabbi, Vanin, Cuda. Coach. Piazza.

COPRATLANTIDE PIACENZA: Massari, Grassano 2, Boninfante, Sequeira, Zlatanov 13, Bravo 17, Rinaldi (L), Oivanen 5, Urnaut 5, Bjelica 10. DNP Boschi, Rak. Coach. Lorenzetti.

Treviso had the better of Piacenza, which missed a couple of players, Marshall and Meoni. The score does not say it all, however. It’s been very tight and exciting as 3000 people watched on. This is Treviso’s third victory of the season on the Italian Champs. Fei MVP.

Roberto Piazza (Sisley Treviso): “I am happy with the three points. It was not easy against a great team despite the absentees. They could have surprised us with Zlatanov outside hitter, but we did well to keep things under control. We could and should have sealed the second and third set earlier. Instead, we struggled, but it’s ok, we got an important result and are in a good position to face the last three games of the season, three more tough ones”.

Angelo Lorenzetti (CoprAtlantide Piacenza): “We tried our best, useless to take the injured players as excuses, we had to give it our best shot and that’s what we did. We had to reorganise things and ask a couple of players to change position. It did not work but, apart from a couple of missed plays in important moments, I can’t reproach anything to my boys. On the contrary, I want to congratulate them for their attitude and fighting spirit”.

ARAN CUCINE ABRUZZO PINETO – BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO 1-3 (18-25, 25-23, 15-25, 11-25) –

ARAN CUCINE ABRUZZO PINETO: Perez Moreno 7, Lampariello 7, Henrique 1, Sborgia 9, Di Franco 10, Perazzolo 11, Armeti (L). DNP Ravellino, Modica, Centorame. Coach. Fant.

BRE BANCA LANNUTTI CUNEO: Wijsmans 15, Henno (L), Parodi 10, Fortunato 8, Nuti 1, Jeroncic 2, Nikolov 16, Grbic 3, Peda 8, Mastrangelo 4. DNP Ariaudo, Patriarca, Bolla. Coach. Giuliani.

Mission accomplished for Cuneo, which won 3-1 over Pineto after their unexpected loss last week in Vibo Valentia. However, it was harder than expected, as Pineto even drew things level in the second set. After a tight start to the third, though, Cuneo regained control of things and cruised to victory. Nikolov MVP.

Henrique Ronaldo Royal (Aran Cucine Abruzzo Pineto): “We proved we kept playing with maximum motivation to do our best every Sunday. We even won a set today and we managed to fight against a team like Cuneo, with a much better squad than ours and with the ambition to win the league. I am satisfied with the set won even if we would have liked to do more”.

Vladimir Nikolov (Bre Banca Lannutti Cuneo): “I am very happy to have won this game. We really had to win it, to take three important points to get to the playoffs in good position”.

TRENKWALDER MODENA – RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT PERUGIA 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-21) –

TRENKWALDER MODENA: Manià (L), Kooistra 7, Dennis 18, Kooy, Biribanti, Esko 1, Casoli 6, Diaz Mayorca 7, Piscopo 6. DNP Ciabattini, Soli, Cuturic, Pagni. Coach. Prandi.

RPA-LUIGIBACCHI.IT  PERUGIA: Hubner 5, Savani 13, Bucaioni, Cernic 6, Nemec, Botti 4, Ogurcak, Sintini 2, Pippi (L), Stokr 16, Bovolenta. DNP Lo Bianco, Fanuli. Coach. Di Pinto.

Modena obtained its fourth consecutive win with a 3-0 over Perugia in front of 3500 fans. The hosts lead from start to finish, showing great quality. Captain Angel Dennis had yet another superb game with 18 points (60% in attack and 4 aces) and was voted MVP. Thanks to this victory, Modena moves up to fourth place.

Silvano Prandi (Trenkwalder Modena): “We were preoccupied with this game, because Perugia had an opportunity to get back in the race for the playoffs and they were on a four-game winning streak. We made less mistakes than they did and we won without too much difficulty. This is a very valuable win. We’ll be looking ahead now as we always do”.

Vincenzo Di Pinto (Rpa Luigibacchi.it Perugia): “We made too many mistakes, this is the key of the game. I am disappointed, but if you want to win those games, you need more conviction and fighting spirit. There is a big difference between the Perugia of the cup and the one of the league”.
