Trento triumphed in the cup final thanks to a great come back over Macerata, but the clashes of titans between the two clubs are not over. This week already, they will meet again but this time in the Champions League playoffs 6. The only past encounters between the two teams in European competitions was in the Champions League semi-final 2009 in Prague, as Trento won its first trophy in the competition. As for Macerata, they won the competition in 2002.
Neither this 2009 match nor the latest cup final will be enough to predict which will be the winner of this European tie. At stake there is a place in the Final Four to take place in Lodz, Poland. If the teams were to win one game each, a golden set would have to be played at the end of the return leg (Thursday March 1 in Trento at 8.30pm).
