Once again, Trento made it into the World Club Championship final and will be able to defend the title they have been retaining for the past three years. Story repeated itself: just like last year, Trento sent the Russians of Kazan packing at the semi-final stage. This time, the European champions of Kazan were defeated in straight sets. This was also a kind of revenge on the defeat suffered by Trento in the Champions League quarter-final last season. The final is scheduled on Friday 19 against the Brazilian of Cruzeiro, which had the better of Belchatow in the other semi-final.
“I am obviously very happy and satisfied with the victory – said coach Stoytchev – Kazan made it very hard for us during long spells of the game, and we have done a great job of finding the right answers and stay focus on every single play. That concentration at all time made things easier but now we have to do the same thing in the final. We will give everything we have to win another title, but we do know that what we’ve done today on court does not matter anymore”.
