In front of 4100 spectators in Assago’s Mediolanum Forum, Macerata defeated Modena 3-1 in the second Italian cup semi-final. The never-ending duel with Trento will therefore have a new chapter tomorrow in the second consecutive cup final between the two clubs, which was also the league final on V-Day last April. Trento had won the cup while Macerata the league title.

Alberto Giuliani (coach Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “I am obviously delighted, shame we did not capitalize on the our advantages in the first set as we struggled to receive Modena’s serve. Despite the fact there has been some players missing, the team managed once again to make it to an Italian Cup final”.

Dragan Travica (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “We have done a great job today, because we were up against the most in-form team of the league together with Trento, and just a few weeks ago we had lost against them. Tonight, we won it without playing at our best, but in those encounters you need patience, and you have to try to make the most of any potential advantage”.

Hubert Henno (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Macerata): “When you play a good game it’s because both team have had a good match, and our opponent have done extremely well. We have handled well some key moments of the game without being discouraged at any point”.

Guillaume Quesque (Casa Modena): “Our first set has really been excellent, but in the second we made too many silly mistakes, we missed easy plays. More mistakes came in the fourth and we got blocked too many times. We’re disappointed because we really believed in our chances”.

Andrea Sala (Casa Modena): “These 2/3 silly mistakes in the second could have changed the result, like in the third, set in which we managed to bounce back but could not convert the opportunities that came our way. But that was a good experience with all those fans that followed us here”.
