Great signing for Reggio Emilia who brought in 213cm tall spiker Yvan Arthur Kody Bitjaa on a long-term contract. The giant spiker from Cameroun will live his first experience away from home. The 22-year-old boy from Yaounde already makes history: he will be the first ever from Cameroun to play in Italy. Bitjaa, who will take part in the World Championships at the end of August with his national team, has graduated in medicine and learnt four languages. His approach to basketball is rather unusual: One day in 2012, the Cameroun head coach came across him in the streets of the capital. Noticing the imposing figure of the youngster he asked him if he had ever played volleyball. Negative answer but he still invited him to join in the gym. Bitjaa quickly fell in love with the game of volleyball.
