It was not easy but Piacenza managed to bring home a big name. The club signed the takented outside hitter Drazen Luburic. Born in 1993, the young Serbian has already made a name for himself on the international scene as he won last season’s Challenge Cup (27 points in the first leg against Benfica) and took part in the recent World League with the Serbian national team. He played the past three seasons for Vojvodina Novi Sad, a club that launched the career of top players such as the Grbic brothers (Vladimir and Nikola), Geric, Mester, Boskan, Kovac and Mijic. Last season, Luburic was named Best Young Player of the year in the Serbian Superliga.

“Piacenza is a club with a great history, one of the greats of Serbian volleyball, Nikola Grbic, played there – said Luburic as he explained his choice to pick Piacenza – This is a great opportunity for a young player like me. I can’t wait to face this new challenge”.
