The Molfetta players needed a special performance to keep the dream alive and they found it. Standing ovation from the home fans who are now certain to see their team back for game 4. The hosts dominated in every area of the game and they showed the kind of character that had got them a lot of great moments during the regular season. Hernandez was outstanding, he scored 33 points, 6 of which were aces, while the MVP of the game was Fedrizzi who registered 53% in attack for 16 points. Six aces for him too.

Daniele De Pandis (Exprivia Molfetta): “I think everything went to perfection today, both technically and mentally. We did what the coach had asked us this week: to be even more aggressive than the best team in Italy. We want to do very well in both our home games in these playoffs to send it all to the Game 5 and try to bring as much excitement to our amazing fans as possible”.

Matej Kaziyski (Diatec Trentino): “It’s never enjoyable to lose. This week we’ll face two difficult games, one on the road, but we’re confident we can win both of them. I still have to settle in the group. I want to congratulate Molfetta. They took a lot of risks on the serve and they ripped maximum rewards, even if it’s true we made a lot of mistakes in reception”.

TONAZZO PADOVA – DHL MODENA 3-1 (19-25, 25-22, 25-21, 26-24)

TONAZZO PADOVA: Cook 20, Orduna 2, Giannotti 23, Balaso (L), Quiroga 1, Volpato, Averill 5, Berger 12, Diamantini 4. DNP Leoni, Bassanello, Milan, Lazzaretto. Coach. Baldovin.

DHL MODENA: Mossa De Rezende 2, Casadei 13, Rossini (L), Sartoretti, Ngapeth 23, Nikic 9, Piano, Bossi 9, Sens, Saatkamp 12, Vettori. DNP Donadio, Soli, Sighinolfi. Coach. Lorenzetti.

Padova played one of its best games of the season to have the better of the Modena giants. The hosts had MVP Giannotti and Cook as the main architects of this memorable evening. Modena lost its way after the first set as Vettori’s absence made itself felt. They also proved inaccurate in the important moments of the game.

Valerio Baldovin (coach Tonazzo Padova): “It’s been a tough game, we struggled to receive their serve in the first set. But credit to the boys who gained confidence little by little and believed. From the third set on we had impressive percentages in attack. We shouldn’t put our heads down after a defeat and neither should we get carried away after a victory. We’ll keep working as always, so that we can play face to face the coming games”.

Salvatore Rossini (DHL Modena): “It’s true we did not have our greatest game, but let’s remember there is an opponent to beat on court. They played superb volleyball, congratulations to them on this brilliant performance. This does not change anything for us. We knew it would be hard. We will work hard during the week to prepare Game 3. That’s the playoffs for you”.

NINFA LATINA – CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE CIVITANOVA 0-3 (21-25, 17-25, 15-25) – NINFA LATINA: Sottile, Sket 5, Pavlov, Romiti (L), Tailli, Hirsch 10, Yosifov 6, Rossi 3, Maruotti 7. DNP Krumins, Mattei, Ferenciac. Coach. Placì.

CUCINE LUBE BANCA MARCHE CIVITANOVA: Juantorena 16, Stankovic 9, Christenson 2, Cester 4, Grebennikov (L), Miljkovic 11, Cebulj 14. DNP Parodi, Vitelli, Priddy, Kovar, Corvetta, Podrascanin. Coach. Blengini.

Civitanova made the double and goes 2-0 up in the series. The visitors left Latina no chance thanks to an excellent 63% in attack and 8 aces. MVP Klement Cebulj (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Civitanova)

Roberto Romiti (Ninfa Latina): “We knew they would have stepped up a gear. Their serve has been a big part of their success, we just couldn’t keep up”.

Klement Cebulj (Cucine Lube Banca Marche Civitanova): “They had put us under a lot of pressure on Thursday night, but today we had an excellent game. Now we have to win at home to seal the series”.

SIR SAFETY CONAD PERUGIA – CALZEDONIA VERONA 3-0 (25-17, 25-23, 25-20) – SIR SAFETY CONAD PERUGIA: Buti 9, Fromm, De Cecco 2, Kaliberda 8, Giovi (L), Russell 16, Tzioumakas, Elia, Atanasijevic 13, Birarelli 6. DNP Holt, Dimitrov, Fanuli. Coach. Kovac.

CALZEDONIA VERONA: Zingel 3, Kovacevic 13, Pesaresi (L), Gitto, Spirito, Baranowicz 1, Starovic 15, Bellei, Sander 9, Anzani 5. DNP Lecat, Frigo, Bucko. Coach. Giani.

It’s Perugia again. In a sold-out house, Kovac’s men made it 2-0 in the series over Verona. The hosts were led by the extremely inspired De Cecco, while Aaron Russell was the only possible MVP of the game as he had an extraordinary game (16 points at 70%). Perugia was also on top of it in the reception with 57% and Giovi did miracles in dig. Besides, even if Atanasijevic is not as impressive as usual, he still shows up to smash down the big points.

Aleksandar Atanasijevic (Sir Safety Conad Perugia): “It’s been a great game which ended with a very positive result for us. Now we have ten days to rest and recharge our batteries for Game 3. We’ll go to Verona to try to repeat the performance we had today. Big thank you to our fans who has really been the extra man on court”.

Giacomo Belli (Calzedonia Verona): “We had a poor game today, we have probably suffered the psychological effect of Game 1. We knew playing here would be tough and that was confirmed. We hoped we could get back in it by fighting point after point, but that wasn’t to be. We have one chance left, we’ll give everything we have”.
