A dream of a choregraphy led the players of both sides on court. In a packed arena, Modena clinched it in a tie-break they dominated from start ti finish. MVP Earvin Ngapeth (Azimut Modena)

Roberto Piazza (Coach Azimut Modena Volley): “We had a great result against a great opponent. I told the boys to be extremely focused on certain fundamentals and I have to say they responded perfectly. I congratulated them for the win. Now we’ll focus on Piacenza ».

Angelo Lorenzetti (Coach Diatec Trentino): “There were a lot of ups and downs in this game. At times we played well, but it has to be said that we made the most of our opportunities. During the sets we won, we managed to keep hold of the advantages we had built. Modena made the difference on the serve, especially in the tie-break, in which we found ourselves behind from the start. We cannot be satisfied with a defeat, but I had asked the boys to have a good one ».

TONNO CALLIPO CALABRIA VIBO VALENTIA – BIOSì INDEXA SORA 2-3 (23-25, 22-25, 25-22, 25-19, 11-15)

TONNO CALLIPO CALABRIA VIBO VALENTIA: Costa 5, Coscione 1, Marra (L), Geiler 4, Michalovic, Barreto Silva 19, Barone 4, Alves Soares 8, Maccarone, Diamantini 8, Rejlek 24. DNP Buzzelli, Corrado, Torchia. Coach. Kantor.

BIOSì INDEXA SORA: Marrazzo, Corsetti (L), Gotsev 12, Tiozzo 1, Santucci (L), Kalinin 8, Rosso 25, Mattei 3, Seganov 1, Sperandio 4, Miskevich 28, De Marchi. DNP Lucarelli, Mauti. Coach. Bagnoli.

Once again, Sora will keep some positive memories from the PalaValentia arena. Bagnoli’s men came back home with a tie-break win in yet another marathons played between the two teams. Rosso and co dominated the first two sets thanks to some effective reception. Seganov was reading the game well and Miskevic and Rosso took advantage in attack. Vibo fought back to force a tie-break but thanks to three blocks, including the winning points, from Kalinin, the visitors escaped and won at the end of the fifth. MVP Radzivon Miskevich (Biosì Indexa Sora)

Manuel Coscione (Tonno Callipo Calabria Vibo Valentia): “We have to congratulate Sora becaue they played the perfect game. In my opinion we did not serve well in the first two sets, while they did well in reception. Then we played with pride in the third and fourth set. It’s not a question of focus but mistakes we made during the whole game ».

Mattia Rosso (Biosì Indexa Sora): “Another tie-break, we’re always happy to go back to Vibo for obvious reasons. It’s been a tight encounter because we are two pretty similar teams. We have been more composed in the fifth set. At each game that goes by we understand that we have the level to be here in this league. Now we have two games coming up in which we can get a result. Obviously, if we made it into the Italian cup that would be a historical achievement ».

KIOENE PADOVA – LPR PIACENZA 0-3 (23-25, 18-25, 23-25)

KIOENE PADOVA: Bassanello, Zoppellari, Giannotti 17, Balaso (L), Maar 4, Koncilja 5, Volpato 5, Milan, Fedrizzi 3, Sestan 5. DNP Veronese, Averill, Link. Coach. Baldovin.

LPR PIACENZA: Parodi, Alletti 5, Papi (L), Marshall 14, Yosifov 2, Tencati 4, Hierrezuelo 5, Hernandez Ramos 14, Clevenot 8, Cottarelli. DNP Manià, Zlatanov. Coach. Giuliani.

Piacenza has been clinical in the clutch time, which made the difference on a day neither team played brilliantly. MVP Hernandez and Marshall were the main men when it mattered most. On the contrary, Padova wasted too many opportunites on crucial rallies. MVP: Fernando Ramos Hernandez (LPR Piacenza).

Valerio Baldovin (coach Kioene Padova): “We gave it a good fight and that is something important. We’re a bit disappointed because both in the first and third set we could have done better and got back in the game. We knew Piacenza would have put us under pressure with the serve, but the response of the team was positive, in spite of the final score ».

Alberto Giuliani (LPR Piacenza): “It’s been an important game, especially after Thursday’s match which had taken a lot of our mental and physical resources. I was extremely worried but the boys have been solid even if not that brilliant at certain moments »

CUCINE LUBE CIVITANOVA – CALZEDONIA VERONA 3-0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-22)

CUCINE LUBE CIVITANOVA: Sokolov 12, Pesaresi (L), Kaliberda 8, Juantorena 16, Stankovic 10, Christenson 1, Cester 8, Grebennikov. Non entrati Candellaro, Casadei, Kovar, Corvetta, Cebulj. Coach. Blengini.

Civitanova remains undefeated in its Eurosuole Forum. The hosts immeditely bounced back from last Sunday’s loss against Trento with a sweep over Verona in just over an hour of play. That was a fourth defeat running for the visitors. Sokolov was already back from his ankle injury as Civitanova regained first place in the standings. MVP Denis Kaliberda (Cucine Lube Civitanova)

Osmany Juantorena (Cucine Lube Civitanova): “It was important to take all the points against Verona. And I think we did it by playing excellent volleyball. We have to remain focused and think one game at a time. Tomorrow we’ll start focusing on Molfetta, who will come to Civitanova next Sunday ».

Stefano Bianchini (GM Calzedonia Verona): “The first two sets were extremely negative, the gap was evident. In the third we managed to play face to face with our opponents but it did not go well in the end. We’re going home extremely disappointed with this fourth straight defeat. We know we have a lot of work to do to get out of this negative situation ».

BUNGE RAVENNA – REVIVRE MILANO 3-0 (25-20, 25-23, 25-17)

BUNGE RAVENNA: Ricci 5, Kaminski 1, Van Garderen 10, Grozdanov 13, Goi (L), Torres 14, Bossi 1, Spirito 5, Marchini. DNP Calarco, Leoni, Raffaelli, Lyneel. Coach. Soli.

Ravenna put an end to a four game losing streak with a straight set victory over Milan. In spite of being without captain Lyneel, Soli’s men dominated from start to finsih with MVP Spirito as leader and with the trio of spiker Torres-Van Garderen-Grozdanov on song. Milan had Starovic back but that did not stop their negative run. This was their fourth consecutive loss as they crash closer to the bottom of the table.

Fabio Soli (Coach Bunge Ravenna): “It’s been a shaky week for us because of the poor display against Piacenza, but I got the response I wanted from my players. We have worked very hard and have finally ripped the rewards with this victory. We have to learn from this and do more of the same next Sunday. This is the way to go, we have to be focused and accurate like this. From Torres to Goi, we have been excellent in dig, while Spirito guided the team just like we had planned. Winning helps you to win, we must be ambitious and want more ».

Luca Monti (Coach Revivre Milano): “The problem is that we do not play to our full potential and we are losing confidence in our ability. We have always been behind, we managed to stay close only in the second, even if we have never been that solid. Our injured players are on their way back, but psychologically we are down. Now I’ll ask the boys to work with more consistency and calm in order to bring the team back up and see the old Milan team I used to know ».
