Tonno Callipo clinched the eighth place in the final standings and a spot in the playoffs bracket, by defeating 3-1 Bunge Ravenna at Pala De Andrè. Ravenna needed one point to clinch the playoff spot, but Vibo had a killer instinct in the crunch time of the sets. Vibo won first set at the extras 26-24, coming back in the second, trailing from 13-18, thanks to great sets by Manuel Coscione, with a set point solved by Diamantini for 25-23. Bunge fought back in the third, winning easily 25-12, staying in the game, looking froward to the tie break. The fourth was on the edge until the end, but as usual Manuel Coscione stepped up, driving Waldo Kantor’s team to a great win 25-23 in the fourth , a Barreto Silva point which gave the playoffs to Tonno Callipo.

Fabio Soli (Bunge Ravenna): “I’m so sorry for the players, they deserved to participate to the playoffs, they did a great job all season long. On today we were nervous, they put alot of pressure on us with the serve, their aceswere fundamental for the final result. We were weird in second and in fourth set, they had continuity all game long. Will not easy to recover from this disappointing end, but we’ll try to do our best for playoffs for 5th place”.

Waldo Kantor (Tonno Callipo Vibo Valentia): “We played a good game, this win is all about mental and technical strength. I have to say that the guys were great, because it wasn’t easy to play here in Ravenna. The turning point of the match has been second set. We always believed, never gave up, neither when we were down in the score. Now we will face antoehr great challenge in the playoffs, we’ll try to give our best. This is the right reward to our President Callipo”.
