It was difficult to keep him, countless offers for him even in a higher category, but Volley Savigliano managed to keep him “at home”. Daniele Mellano’s talent from Savigliano is highly confirmed. Graduating in pharmacy, he has always played in Savigliano.
Last year he experienced a double championship: first part in Serie C and then promotion to A3. After a few weeks of work in the first team, Daniele’s talents immediately emerged; coach Bonifetto throws him into the fray and, game after game, he grows more and more managing to land 48 points of which 18 blocks in just 14 games (not even played completely). We hope that this year too he will be able to “seal” the Saviglianese camp.
Daniele defines last year as unpredictable and incredible, it was not easy to go from Serie C to A3, he had to do everything to change his game and to try to catch up with his more experienced teammates. Fantastic debut in Macerata. The work done with the coaches and the support of his teammates were fundamental, which made him really grow up to the call-up to the national team. The goal for next year is to play a quieter championship, certainly save himself, but given the grafts try to collect as many successes as possible and maybe get a little higher in the standings.
The call-up to the national team was a unique surprise, the dedication and work paid off. He is taking away a lot of satisfaction, he is working with an exceptional staff alongside really strong and splendid companions who are helping him to grow in volleyball but also humanly. An experience that he will carry with him throughout his life.
For dreams in the drawer Daniele focuses on the present: satisfied on a sporting level, he wants to continue like this, with the same dedication and determination. Off the pitch, the focus is on study. He doesn’t want to leave out anything …
